I'm surprised when da'vonne exited they didn't reveal the poker player aspect of VR since da'vonne is a poker dealer. VR seems to be playing really solid right now.

There was a separate, 15 minute discussion between Da'vonne and Vanessa on youtube (can't find immediately...)

Da'vonne explained where in Cali she lived.
Vanessa asked if that was near Commerce casino.
Da'vonne (poker dealer in real life, claimed she was a school teacher) asked about her gambling history.
Vanessa said that she played 1/2 for 2 years, it was good to pay the bills, but finds a more fulfilling career as a DJ (cliffnotes version).
Da'vonne seemed to buy it, while in turn hiding her own "secret" of being a poker dealer (because all good poker dealers are good poker players {lol}, and poker players have a stigma for bluffing/deceiving)

I also believe Da'vonne would've mentioned in her diary room sessions (the time when they talk to the camera by themself) if she recognized her.

IMO, Da'vonne probably doesn't follow high-stakes/professional poker. Probably just clocks in and clocks out, and the only players she would recognize is the regs at her casino.

What % of poker dealers do you think would recognize Vanessa Rousso if they were right in front of them?

I think that's a good question... My guess would be a pretty high percentage of dealers would know VR. She has to be in the top 5 most well known women poker players. The casinos I go to show poker on the big screen tvs whenever its on. Maybe she deals one of the pit "poker" games. If that were the case then I think there's 0 chance she would recognize her.

I consider VR to be at least a second-tier player in terms of media-exposure (below Negreanu, Ivey, Hellmuth, Doyle, etc. for sure). I feel like her exposure from PokerStars/GoDaddy has decreased over the last 5 years (at least from my point of view).

That, plus I would assume that a lot of dealers don't really follow the professional poker circuit...

I wouldn't put it any higher than 15% of poker dealers would recognize her.

Vanessa may have revealed her being a poker player may have something to do with the twin. As one twin leaves the household they have access to the outside world, enternet access previous episodes etc. Maybe better to tell the household instead of them finding out later and feeling deceived that youre a poker player. It was the twin who confided to her that she was a twin being the first person to know. maybe there's a connection.

Hard to imagine someone would even think any houseguest could have any means of access to the outside world. That would mean immediate expulsion from the show. My guess is the other twin is staying in the jury house.

Possibly. I couldn't imagine being sequestered in an area with nothing to do and no one to talk to for periods of 2-3 days, off and on for 5 weeks

Vanessa was talking about being a pro poker player ("gambler") to people from like the second week. They all know, they don't care. She's not flying UTR at all. Still has decent win equity, but she's too emotional.

When Vanessa was confronting Jeff, for a second I was like dayummm Vanessa this ain't jersey shore!!

Vanessa has been playing well and representing herself well on the show. Before the show, I kind of had a negative general opinion of her. I'm not really sure why exactly, and it wasn't strongly negative, but I felt like didn't really like her. Idk. Anyways, I think she's come across as a nice and likable person, and from what I've her gameplay seems good too (I only watch the TV episodes I don't watch the live streams or any extra stuff).

Most importantly, I think she's doing a good job of representing poker players. She comes across WAY better than say gman on Survivor for example. Maybe he just got a negative edit and he's a great guy, I have no idea, but often poker players don't end up looking like great people on reality TV shows and Vanessa is representing very well thus far.

Her husband obviously didn't have it easy as well. Cancer is such a brutal disease.

To claim that she "deserted" him solely because they divorced is tough. By a couple of accounts ITT, she helped support him as he went through it. She was also dealing with her own sexuality as well.
