They refused to ever discuss issues of real concern to poker players like the rake. Nothing is more basic than the cost to a PLAYER. The PPA blew off everybody who tried to push that basic basic issue. The reason is OBVIOUS. Do you think that Lederer wouldn't have pulled funding if they made rake an issue? Do you think that they didn't know that? Don't you think this pattern pervades all lobbying relationships? "In the pocket" seems perfectly adequate. Name one thing where they disagreed with Lederer.

EDIT: You're not going to see #1000 for about a week, Rabbito.
This is the most awaited track I can ever recall.
Godspeed!

About time this got its own thread. This is an amazing thing being done by Macro and the rest of people involved. I've been listening on and off since Friday night and i'm not sure how but it has been highly entertaining throughout the whole time. Big props and a huge thank you to everyone involved in this.

BTW, thanks as well to link for Carols blog, tons of useful information. And nothing wrong with her voice either.

If they believed that pushing for the rake issue ultimately jeopardized the ability of players to keep playing online or would sacrifice the likely path to legalization then it doesn't necessarily mean they betrayed their role. Howard Lederer had the same goal, so his business decisions probably wouldn't conflict to much with that, and when something's not even legally recognized even issues as significant to serious players as rake abuse have to take a back seat for the time being. I don't for a second believe that the situation the government has put the industry is isn't going to create exploitative actions that come with any oligopoly but it's one step at a time when it's not even legal yet. Taking money and employing the right path to victory is better than taking a position that will get us all nowhere.

@ Jake7777. You didn't answer my questions so I am not going to bother trying to respond to your apologist drivel. Fact is the PPA was set up by the very people who own FTP and they tried to pretend they were players when they were owners. That was disingenuous.

imo the test of the ppa really comes moving forward. were they a lobby only while stars and tilt were interested in their lobbying- or will they continue to fight for players rights to play poker now that stars and tilt are gone from the US scene.

I always heard their message as fighting for the right to play online poker. That fight needs to continue.

To a point player and stars/ftp concerns dovetailed in previous years. They now don't.

Yes, I did. You can call it whatever you want but just because you didn't like the answers doesn't mean I avoided them.

+1

The very point you just made was mentioned on the quadjacks stream a couple hours ago. The basic consensus being we may face the day where we need to stop supporting FTP, Stars, or even the PPA, because they are not looking out for our best interests as players. It unfortunately is the road we may face. But hopefully, everyone will be with us and stay true to what we all stand for in light of this recent incident.

IMO, Bodog/Cake/Merge/[insert name of other U.S.-facing poker operator] haven't been targeted because DOJ doesn't have enough information on their payment processing practices to bring charges.

This doesn't mean that they aren't currently under investigation or won't be under investigation in the future.

not a big enough site, prob is better at doing shadier thing,
ie: they got a spotsbooks, DOJ been shutting sportsbooks down waaay longer. Im quite shocked they thave been around this long, i think its just they are better at it hiding it.

FYI, according to KevMath on Twitter:

@pokerati @ckbwop @mark_gahagan @bjnemeth the DOJ in Maryland have been going after Bodog's payment processors for years.

Anyone used to their contact actually tends to call them women. But of course you know this Mr.PUA.

Also people love to look like they are the defenders of hate or some bull****......I did not criticise carols voice at all, rather the incessant, seemingly random upward inflection. Carols accent and voice tone is fine and I didn't say otherwise, people saying I'm a hater or ridiculous for my opinion are just stupid.

Learn this, woman prefer the truth, not brown nosers defending their honour lol. Fools.
I mean it's not as if in was saying this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYmSUSwYsPU .

It's all good. I know I don't have a great podcast voice, which is why I generally stick to the written word.

@ Carol

Do u think there is any need to worry for european player? Can they really seize the funds that big time that we would have any problems getting our money?

I haven't yet had a chance to do complete research on the civil forfeiture claims that accompany the indictments, but I think that non-U.S. players will probably be ok. This is a U.S. justice agency that is pursuing violations of U.S. law, and the civil forfeiture penalties relate to money that is used in violation of U.S. law.
