Puting it down to just two hopes in the near future:

1.) the deficit reduction package bill

2.) Obama's jobs bill

But that doesn’t address a deeper issue shared by many Republicans, including Kyl: They just don’t want the federal government getting into the business of gambling.
Ok, good, then GTFO out of it. Or, does he mean regulating and taxing it, and he simply overlooked the fact that he made the federal Government get into the business of criminalizing poker.

This corrupt hypocrite can eat a dick. It's probably time to go another direction and get on the train that all the skill games enjoy. Horse racing, Fantasy sports, lottery (lol), even other card games like hearts. There's absolutely no reason why poker shouldn't be allowed the same status of those games and then we can have what we ALL want. No federal Government involved in Poker.

The only thing I got out of the article: in the US corruption wins you anything you want. It's even ok to make it blatant and open by referring to donations as "contributions".

So, the solution is just to dump more money on the people in charge. Donate to the PPA, etc..

Fine line here between discussing the article and politarding the thread up. Keep it civil and non-political, please.

The article seems pretty darn negative to me. Is it just me or does the article make it sound like our chances of ever getting something passed is very unlikely?

Now THERE'S some constructive debate. Did you even BOTHER to read the article?

But since the accusations were leveled, there’s been a falling-out between the gaming community and its most dogged advocate for online poker legalization: the Poker Players Alliance.

The main financiers of the alliance — before the scandals exploded — were members of the Full Tilt board.

It’s a relationship the alliance is seeking to distance itself from...

When the allegations against Full Tilt were revealed two weeks ago, Rep. Barney Frank, the top House Democrat on the Financial Services committee and a supporter of legalizing online poker, pledged not only to return the campaign money he’d received from board members, but also the money that he’d gotten from the PPA.

Did everyone expect that every article regarding ip would be positive? There's a lot of merchants in Vegas that see ip as a way of losing customers. This isn't the end of the world, perhaps it's motivation for the AGA and PPA to get on the same page.

I will be looking for a response from the PPA, as this could negatively effect their efforts if legislators see future involvement with the PPA as a political minefield.

Not sure why she wants to remain anonymous considering she's just observing what appears to be a play money tournament.

Does anyone really think that Federal Regulation will prevent what happened with FTP? If a bank or stock broker or anyone else decides to take your money and put it a foreign account, it's gone, baby. As with anything else, you have to depend on the honesty of the people you are doing business with.

So what, that's no big secret. Media like to use photos, especially online media, and if an article isn't about a specific person they'll often use a stock photo. Perhaps this one is one of the cheaper one with the keywords 'online poker' in the databases of such providers, so it is likely to be picked more often. Probably in the future as well.
