Tournament Poker is Nonsense - Poker News

With all the stupid "advancements" like BB antes and multiple others, hardly anyone can beat tournaments anymore and profit from them. Tourney poker is now dead. Thank you casino management for sending all tournament players down the street to the checkers club.

Same as it ever was; the % of players who can "beat tournaments" and profit from them was never very high.

Tournaments, minus the fees, are a net - EV for the field, by definition.

Whether you realize it or not, only a few players play well enough, consistently, to overcome the fees charged and net cash out. Skill does still matter more than the various changes you complain about.

Everything else is just pushing money around the tabled. with only a few players.

Im certainly biased as have always enjoyed tournament poker more than cash games. But a form of "poker" where everyone pays x amount to compete and your seat is drawn randomly seems a more pure form of the game than the seat scripting/bum hunting state of cash games all over the internet and in casinos around the world.

Some folks really like Tournament poker. Cool. Some folks like canned spinach , baked liver , and raw squid! Plenty of tables for everyone live and online.

If you want proof tournaments are beatable try playing at Aussie Millions or something. I'm terrible by 2019 standards, have played less than 5000 hands in the past two years online and don't play professionally and I can win there in four figure buy-ins. Live tournament poker is never going to be close to unbeatable with ~10% rake for anyone who doesn't totally suck.

OP, in my experience people are not inconspicous members of any online forum for 13 years and then all of a sudden make 2 of these threads in a row.

Normal people just don't turn into "funny" people for no reason.

Maybe you know a reason and all is well, but I seriously recommend consulting a Neurologist and checking for a tumor or frontotemporal degeneration like Pick's disease (and I really hope for you it's not the latter and wish you gl either way).

Technically speaking, any game where your liferoll is not on the table is not real poker.

In that sense, tournament poker is more like the real thing than cash games.
