if poker tournaments weren't basically gloried lotteries i might be proud if i ever won one.
there's a golf pro whose name i forget that lives and plays poker in vegas. as of a few years ago he had about 8-10 mil in golf cashes.but that's pure skill not went on a heater won every flip sucked out a few times never got sucked out on look at me and how great i am luck.if i won 8 mil in poker tournaments i'd be glad for the money but honestly would prefer nobody knew. if i won 8 mill in golf tournies i'd be proud of myself and i don't even like golf.
Level of talent in a Poker tournament can very widely (like a golf tournament or tennis tournament for example. The bigger tournaments with higher payouts tend to draw more talented players), that doesn't mean that the players that are competing shouldn't value the trophy that comes along with winning. We have no idea the amount of study/practice (or lack thereof) they've put into the game and the trophy can be a physical reminder that the hard work being put in is not going to waste.
I personally think the online community has ridiculed "LOLDONKAMENTS" to the point where the skills needed to win a tournament Main Event or a prestigious Side event are actually undervalued or underappreciated.
In regards to NASCAR Drivers being the best and most elite in the world, how can you confirm that? Isn't it possible that there are better more elite drivers elsewhere that just don't want the hoopla or media attention that comes with NASCAR and would prefer to remain anonymous?
