Tony G's seemingly bitter tweets on the FTP deal, and why i think it's good news

Tony G

If Howard pulls of this sale of the good assets of FTP he is the amazing evil genius. He and the boys will be in Brasil enjoying the spoils.

The deal on the table is to sell what they can and let the rest go busto. Somebody will pick this up and Howard will be a new part owner.

I guess life is just a poker game for Howard, Ray and Ivey. They are all together and are all extremely hungry for more cash and spoils.

in response to walkingonwater5: Sounds somewhat promising?

@walkingonwater5 I dont think any deal has closed, but if they can get away with it they will make it happen there is no doubt in the world.

My analysis.
1. His tone and word choices makes it clear there is the anonymous European buyer is completely real AND it's not Bwin.
2. He seems quite bitter, making it sound like FTP folks were playing the different possible investors against each other. We count 3 possible players already. Anonymous investor, Bwin, Jack Binion.
3. If deal goes through, it's bad for Party/Bwin by a lot. Party stand to gain the most from FTP downfall.
4. He didn't tweet about this at all for the last couple of days. Not even yesterday when the Times article came out. This makes completely sense if Bwin was right in the thick of things. He wouldn't say ****, because he can't. He would only talk when they officially got it, or if they are officially out of the race.
5. He's been wanting the FTP deal for awhile now. That is clear. I gotta imagine he's jealous if someone else lands it.

Rebuttal for counterarguments
(He owns Pokernews as well, so he might want FTP to do well) Considering he's already cut all relationships with FTP through Pokernews. So he doesn't care about that relationship.

conclusion: Tony G's negative tweets about FTP deal is in reality good signs that the deal is very real.

I don't see any real way his tweets are good for players getting paid back.

That's not to say I believe every word he says. But it's still not good news.

Tony G is such a joke at this point. He has loathed for attention through this entire ordeal. It's pretty clear to me he cares more about getting attention than anything else. Has he done or said anything that would lead people to believe he is a reliable source?

This. Tony G saying something isn't thread worthy.

Re: Tony G's seemingly bitter tweets on the FTP deal, and why i think it's good news

what Tony G says is absolutely thread worthy. He has more inside information than all of 2+2 added up have together.

The key is how to look at what he says, and understand what they mean beyond what he wants you to think he means.

Look at where his interests are, and why he's saying the things he's saying. The fact that he's such a loudmouth makes when he doesn't talk especially interesting to me.

Re: Tony G's seemingly bitter tweets on the FTP deal, and why i think it's good news

I think OP point is that Tony G's tweets lends credence to the reports that FTP has been sold. His bitterness shows that Bwin/Party wasn't able to acquire FTP.

The deal according to the reports by the times insists that US players will be paid as part of the deal.

There is nothing in the tweets that suggest that the US players will not get paid.

While the tweets are not necessarily good news by themselves, they are not necessarily bad news either.

OP analysis is thought-provoking and made some very astute observations as well.

Re: Tony G's seemingly bitter tweets on the FTP deal, and why i think it's good news

the busto fish need anything to cling to in hopes that the regs who owned them year after year wont be able to cash out all their profits. Every indication right now is that ftp has been sold, that paying the players was part of the deal, with sources including latimes and wsj. And yet nvgtards would still have you believe the sky is falling in.

Another example of people clutching at straws, in desperation. You got all that from Tony G tweets. Any deal doesn't guarantee full payouts. Don't you get that.

Tony G was a selfish attention whore already in the Tiffany Michelle case. No one just realized that then and hated on Tiffany because UB was on the 2p2 Evil List. Same thing with Isildur1, and now this.

For the obvious reason that Full Tilt has got years of high volume, very successful branding behind it, and before BF was the second biggest online poker room worldwide for a considerable amount of time. They have to pay players out to keep/restore the value in the brand.

I have enjoyed speculating on all this as much as anyone, but really it is impossible to know what is going to happen. Whether someone wants to hold onto the Full Tilt brand Ihas to depend on a million different things no one on here has much (if any) real information on.

You do need enlightening...what exactly do you think these new investors plan to do with their new investment that is costing them Hundreds of millions of dollars? Perhaps run a poker room and continue to make gobs of money? If they get majority interest in FTP AND then don't pay then who in their right mind would ever go back and play there again?

Clearly if there is a new investor then it will be part of the deal to pay off the players. Just common sense if they actually like making money.
