Tony G not paying for his flat! Tony G not paying for his flat!

02-10-2011 , 04:55 AM
One of the poker players had noticed an interesting banner in his town Saratov (Russia).

The banner says (verbatim): "Mikhail Lvovitch, please pay the debt for your flat of 7 554 rubles".

7 554 rubles is $257 according Google.

No, the banner says verbatim: "Dear Mikhail Lvovich, [some local authority with an abbreviated name] of the Lenin Region earnestly requests you to pay your rent debt of 7,554 roubles"

1. This banner is a fake. What public authority would even think of paying for that?

2. Tony G's name is obviously not Mikhail Lvovich

3. This is a very stupid level

sad that renting a billboard in russia to make a poker joke only costs 3 10nl buyins a month, but it's also awesome

pay for a public ad to be made and put up and pay for the weekly charge for the use of the advertising billboard to publicily humiliate and also chase a $257 debt is just ridiculous.

The money owed can't be that life changing.

obv level

Obviously this is just a social ad and designer was so lame that he took the picture from the web.

****ing Russians, man

I thought you were just angry that he made a terrible flat call on a draw heavy flop and didn't get punished for it.

I'm pretty sure 7554 rubles is about tree fiddy.
02-10-2011 , 09:36 AM
Is his bike called Mikhail?

obviously if it is real, then the whole point is not to collect that particular debt, but to discourage people in general from not paying their rent.

Pretty decent tactic by local authorities to discourage non-payment of debts IMO.

I can imagine they probably thought "let's publish the names and faces of people who don't pay debts, so they'll be more inclined to pay" and then, "well, actually, there are so many people that it'd cost too much to put them all on billboards".

Solution? Create a fake guy with a small debt to pay, then put a billboard up shaming him and put some random's face on it. The fact that the face ended up being Tony G could either be coincidence or a joke, but it's still pretty amusing. either way.

Well, it's defo done with one of those "Make a billboard" -apps on the Interwebs, particularly as Mikhail Lvovich is a character from the play Uncle Vanya.

OR 1/3 of a 100nl BI which sounds less to me

Love Tony G's expression in the photo. He looks kinda sad, like "I shoulda payed my debt" lol

Also, it looks really, really cold there.
02-10-2011 , 11:50 AM
You sure its the same person Tony G's first name was not Mikhail I am pretty sure. People who dont pay debts in the pokerworld are really the lowest. Been hearing more and more cases of this
02-10-2011 , 01:55 PM
They were going to pay Tony to use his face on the billboard but when he heard the offer he said "screw the rubles! my face is going on a billboard!" imo

Ralph Perry's really upset about that IPC hand still huh?
