Well, I know that police using a bit of, shall we say, physical influence is frowned upon in this day and age, but back in my day if you got nailed doing something stupid a cop would smack you upside your head and say don't do that no more and you didn't do that no more lol.

Also, in that blog he mentioned wanting to hurt others and himself.

So, I called the hotel he was at and told them to read his blog and decide if he was a threat. The security officers first words when answering the call were. “Oh, we know him.”

TBC is famous for his outlandish postings and also for people posting about him. Over the last several years he has mellowed out dramatically (at least with super blog posts where you can't stop reading)

His newest blog is really a dud, but if you start reading the old stuff (including a fair number of interesting threads/posts on 2+2) you might just read non-stop for days. He has more outlandish/interesting/hilarious posts and threads over the last 10 years than any 50 people.

If you want a picture of the old TBC you get a great glimpse in this 2008 2+2 thread
Tony Bigcharles: The Documentary

He also had a very long blog on All Vegas Poker AVP that got merged into Poker Atlas. They had been keeping it archived but it appears something happened to it.

Ding Dong Rich Checkmaker is gone.

TBC's old blogging style elicited such strong emotional and highly charged responses that long ago 2+2 Mods prohibited him from posting blogging type threads

He received a one-day temp-ban for his rude/overly-aggressive posts in this thread.

I completely agree, and it's why I don't think they have a very strong case against him.

However, he also posted on fb "Before I commit suicide, u might want to read this blog" which is why I was relieved when I heard he was in custody - not to punish him for what he said in his blog, but to protect him from hurting himself.

We also don't know what happened during his arrest and what his statements were. I mean a 20K bail and a felony charge of terroristic threats is a major charge for someone just saying "I wish this" and "I wish that". Maybe he admitted to the cops that he did wanna kill everyone.

I would like to somehow get a hold of the complaint from the court to see his statements. Isn't it public record?

It's the "before I commit suicide" part that got him busted for sure.

I was arguing (and some people told me that "I wish people are dead" is the same as calling the president that you're going to kill him on monday in his back yard) that there was nothing specified in the "threat", not even who it is for. The "before I commit suicide" implies intent and they take that pretty seriously.

I guess they are going to try him on some "terrorism" charges. Now in my recollection terrorism requires a religious or political motivation but hey, we'll see what they can come up with. Maybe whining about women and gays is going to come back to bite him.

It's "terroristic threat", not "terrorism", and "terroristic threat" doesn't require any specific ideological motivation. I do think the case against him is quite weak, but the authorities were placed in a pretty bad situation since every tip is viewed in hindsight if something happens.

Is he out? Tried an inmate search and nothing came up.

Well, here's a definition of "wish": "Feel or express a strong desire or hope for something that cannot or probably will not happen." I think wishing he could kill people and get his name in the papers "before I commit suicide" falls into the "probably will not" category.

Agreed. While the blog post is certainly disturbing, the linking it to your facebook with a "before I commit suicide" is what warrants intervention of some sort. Hopefully he gets some help, lol America though.

That's a definition, not the definition. Something that probably will not happen still means that it possibly might happen. This is a poker forum. We should think in ranges. Someone who writes those kinds of posts has violence within his range of future actions. If there is only a 1% chance that he actually tries to harm people, the potential negative requires some sort of action. Even false threats violate the freedom from fear that all deserve, which is why false threats are still illegal.

I was responding to the person who wrote that “I wish” means “I am not.” I disagreed with that. A wish can be for something impossible, or it can be an expression of an unlikely goal or desire.

Well he does have citizenship issues and a lack of ID which is the real problem. He somehow got an ID in Louisiana years ago, had to travel back there to renew it, but I think he ****ed that up somehow.

Hi Sugar!

Funny seeing you here...
05-02-2018 , 02:18 PM
How hilarious would it be if his citizenship issues meant that a man who wrote "Donald trump was supposed to use physical violence to deport all non white men out of this country by force of the government" got deported to Canada? How do I go about reporting him to ICE?
05-02-2018 , 02:20 PM
I'd argue these are precisely the days where police use "physical influence" to make 100% sure the perp never ever ever ever ever does it again.

There are some people here in the discussion who seem to think that there are distinctions of what constitutes terrorism, that maybe only a Muslim or foreigner in general is terrorist.
I won't point anybody out but I got news for y'all,
When you kill multiple people, that's terrorism, you are a terrorist.
And if you think otherwise, you sympathise with terrorists, basta.
I was horrified when I read bugs blog.
I don't know if he belongs in jail but he definitely doesn't
Belong on the streets.
Good buy and good riddance.

No. His next court appearance is in two weeks, which I dislike. I was hoping the process would be quicker but I guess that was naive. Every day he sits in jail is another day he is not getting help and perhaps getting angrier.

Edit: Posts below note that this date changed since I last looked

According to someone who was at the courthouse yesterday, not me, they had until Monday to show proof to the judge or the charges would be dropped.

Maybe they didn't have enough for a case and dropped it?
