He'll win a few big pots with aces on the way to taking it down and they'll no longer be known as rockets. "Damn the torpedoes" will be heard at many a poker table.

TP will always be a bar band in Hogtown called Mudcrutch to me. Besides the college bars they held this great party in the boondocks where they would jam for hours but each year it grew so much it ruined it and had to be stopped. It was my line "take it easy, make it last all night" in American Girl. I was talking about the last of the weed at 3 AM. It lasted about 30 minutes. He adds "baby" to it and makes it into the best verse of one of his first hit songs a few years later. Sure, he probably doesn't remember me saying that, but subconsciously who knows. So I've been taking credit for it for the last 35 years every time it plays on the radio and someone else is with me. To this day nobody believes me, not even my kids.

If that's true that's awesome.

Just like JRB, Petty's going into it figuring even the losers get lucky sometime.

He also has a great slowroll opportunity. A player four-bet shoves on him, he calls. Then he tables his hand: "It's good to have kings... whatever it pays."

I own a 6 hour doc on TP & the Heartbreakers, and I've watched it three times already.

Heard he's looking to sell pieces. 1.1 for 1. Says he plays his best against the best players.

If you've never been to Dub's you probably wouldn't understand what I said. Forty years ago is a long time to some but not to others. Go Gators!

I doubt he'll have trouble getting a waitress at the table.

I'll never forget the first time I saw this video. Prince's solo just removed every gram of oxygen from the room; the guy rewrote a classic with one two-minute guitar solo.

And then, to my disgust, he simply dropped his guitar and strutted off-stage. Basically putting down both his fellow musicians (who had created the wall of rock on which he painted his masterpiece) and the beautiful Tele with which he'd done it.

I lost huge respect for Prince at that moment; when I re-watched the video just now, I was crushed again at the end.

Regards, Lee

Before he became famous, Tom Petty (TP) was in a bar band called Mudcrutch. They were from Jacksonville Florida which is nicknamed Hogtown. After Mudcrutch broke up, Tom Petty started a new band called The Heartbreakers. Their first single, "American Girl" contains the line "Take it easy baby, make it last all night." The OP is claiming he came up with this line while the band was jamming at some party out in the middle of nowhere. He claims the line refers to making weed last all night. This checks out, as Tom Petty is a known weed aficionado and many of his songs contain references to it.
