Tom Dwan "Ask Me Anything"

I'm making some video content for Poker King and thought it would be cool to do an "ask me anything" session with Tom Dwan since he is one of their ambassadors.

It's an AMA, so ask whatever you like in this thread. The answers will come in a video series, so please allow some time for filming and editing.

Thanks to Mason for approving this thread.

Re: Tom Dwan "Ask Me Anything"

Wow probably bunch of questions but start with this.

When’s the last time you played online and will you ever come back to HS online games?
Was there any reason to stop playing online other then too busy with the Macao games?

Biggest pots won and lost in Macau.

Re: Tom Dwan "Ask Me Anything"

Cue what it is like to work for the Triad and be chained in a basement.

For real:
-Did he have 100% of his action back in the day?
-Best and worst live stakes pro?
-Who acts up for the camera only?
-Does he get nervous!
-What up with calling AQ for a mill?
-Will short-deck game ever take off?

Did anyone have a very different persona off camera vs on camera on High Stakes Poker?

just tell him to touch his left ear if he is kept against his will

as for question, has he played with Limitless/Wiktor in Macau? If yes, what did he think of him?

My fave player, sick!

My Q:

How did you feel after losing that alleged 20MM pot set over set, if it did indeed happen? Or how you felt the first time losing an 8 figure pot?

Advise for losers like me to improve my game.
Is he shy about urinating at public urinals when other dudes are in the room?
Who does he struggle playing against?

Re: Tom Dwan "Ask Me Anything"

What's the largest effective poker game you've played in? For example, 10% of yourself in a 5k/10k game is a smaller game than 100% of yourself in a 1K/2K game.
What was your net worth at the time of playing said game?

Biggest straddle you've made?
Biggest straddle you've seen?

Biggest pot you've won/lost? HH?
Biggest pot you've seen? HH?

Biggest downswing (in terms of $)?

Most you've ever been in debt?
Highest your net worth has ever been?
Are you currently in debt? If so, how much?

Have you settled your debt with Haralbos Voulgaris?

How much money are you owed by other poker players?

Will you please do a podcast with Joe Ingram?

Are you aware of the triad prisoner joke about you that Doug Polk popularized? What are your thoughts on that? Did you find the video funny?

Please share a Isildur1 poker/gambling story that isn't well known
Please share a Phil Ivey poker/gambling story that isn't well known

What the **** is going on with the Jungleman challenge?

Do you wish you were able to grind poker and live your life without the spotlight being on you from a young age, or do you like the added attention / maybe pressure that has come over all these years?

Re: Tom Dwan "Ask Me Anything"

That HSP pot against Barry Greenstein where you only ran it once and didn’t agree to pull some money back before the run out was an epic beat down of Barry G. Recollections of that pot? Also, do you normally take the variance and just run it once, no money pulled back when playing cash games?

Tom wanted to run it twice, Barry didn't. Barry wanted to pull some money back, Tom didn't.

Re: Tom Dwan "Ask Me Anything"

now that all this time has passed and poker has changed so much from a game that in the beginning of online poker you could compete and rise to unfathomable amounts of money through pure competition to more or less of having to chase and pander/cater to wealthy people so they allow you to make money off of them while walking a line between friend and hustler do you feel any guilt or disdain for the game and or the players you make money from / how you make money .

i know how i feel when ive spent alot of time in a casino on heaters or playing poker its like being in a time warp ( in the worst way possible) but for me reality comes crashing back frequently im wondering what playing at such high levels for so long has done to toms psyche. does he think its impacted him negatively or positively , also spending this time so far from where he came from does he think hes lost touch with reality possibly and the things most people go through to earn a less than modest living. its so bizarre to see people who live such one of a kind lives like tom ive always wondered how they view regular people and what day to day things they believe to be true.
