He's a friendly poker player who uses his amazing people skills to not only gather information about his opponents play, but also to make the game more social, fun, and open/loose.

Yes, both of these things are also pretty self serving, but that's just human nature and IMO, a very poor way of looking at it. We are nice to other people because we usually expect to benefit from it somehow...this is not some trait exclusive to Dnegs.

These things are great for the game of poker, and not just in that moment but in the longterm. I guarantee DN has brought more new players to the game of poker than 99% of the poker community combined.

He saw the online bubble come and go, I imagine as an early mover in asia he knew to maximize his potential...unfortunately to an unhealthy level.
