Also who had sex with who is very important and how much.

I'm hopeful but not that optimistic that it will capture the same feel of the original show. There was nothing better and hasn't been since.

The video that OP posted is from the official High Stakes Poker YouTube channel. Some time last year, that channel had posted every episode from 6 full seasons of HSP. All of those episodes have now been removed.

There are of course thousands of other videos on YouTube featuring hands from HSP. Now that PokerGo owns the rights to HSP, I expect they'll exercise their legal right to have all of those videos taken down.

There are videos on YouTube from 12 years ago, with millions of views, still getting comments to this day. Many of those comments are from people who are clearly very new to poker. Some of them don't even know the rules.

Another avenue for fresh players to discover the game is being closed. Buying up this content and shuttering it behind a paywall benefits nobody except PokerGo.

Why close old short clips? They should be able to claim revenue on those anyways

The HSP brand isn't a time machine. If they had the means or capability to create a new show with Gabe/AJ, with the same type of players, and the same kind of feel, they would have done so already. The name is just a name.

It is not a time machine. I think though the player pool exists across the various high stakes games to bring together an elliptic group of players with various skill levels that could be really fun to watch. The fragmentation of that pool means they are all rarely if ever brought together in the same game but this could tempt them all out of the woodwork onto the same show. Whether the name of the show still has the pulling power remains to be seen. After that production values and commentators would be key.

90% of the players in that game are broke or have no interest in coming back.

No one is talking about the old crew that used to play on the show. Although a few of them are certainly not broke and some of them would bring a welcome dose of nostalgia to the whole thing.

I guess the guys in the video posted in the OP don't count.

You're right, and I don't disagree with any of this. PokerGo has excellent production value, headed up by the original creator of PAD and HSP Mori Eskandani. They have put on some great games with some sick lineups. There are some very talented people working there.

They didn't need to buy the HSP name to put out a quality product. It's probably not a show that can be faithfully recreated. If HSP gets needlessly axed on YouTube, it's a significant loss for the poker community, far worse than when PokerGo killed the daily WSOP streams.

Gonna fan-request lineups which are something like

2 online endbosses (Think Linus, Fish, Trueteller)
2 billionares (include megamillionares ldo, Perkins is welcome)
2 "oldschool" names (think Dwan, Robl, Trickett, Antonius)
2 fun pros (JRB, Garrett... Maybe throw people like Leon or Talal Shakerchi into this category. I realize it's a wide scope of poker skill to say the least.)

People like Matt Kirk, Dwan, Ivey/DNegs (for nostalgic purposes), JRB, Schwartz, Perkins, Garrett, Tony G etc would make an ideal show. Have to have characters, not boring GTO robots who have zero personality - who cares if they've won all the money online, too boring to watch.

Just put big ante deep buyin and mandatory straddle on and online pros would be loads of fun too in what I assume is a game without rake
You need 1-2 in there for sure because the optimal way is actually loose with a lot of action
HSP was the most fun when Dwan was there with all the others

And one name would be a massive draw

But if I were them I'd actually straight up throw fairness out of the window
And pay selective players to play based on their marketing impact
