That rich whale lost $25 million ? Wow that must have been some awesome homegames. Surprising also to hear that the guy that did so much for poker (Matt Damon) is really bad according to the others and always lost. You'd think he could at least learn the game in those 15 years.

It is in the home games where you have the real money, some crappy player who spew of thousands, or millions of dollars as in this case. Most pros have their private ATM-games running where they make the real money. They have a huge customer base of rich people who want to play a pro and have money to put up in the games. Not to mention lot of people get scammed.

So some hedge fund manager steals millions from his clients and loses it in home poker games and somehow his clients think they can sue the people he lost it to? The players had no idea the guy's money was stolen.

What if he had blown it all at a regular casino, would they be suing them?

And wtf, who trusts there money to a hedge fund manager. Have you ever heard of a hedge fund manager who didn't steal? As far as I can tell a hund fund manager's sole purpose in life is to steal.

wonder how many other high stake games of rich people are going on.. this is maybe only the tip of the iceberg.

I guess you could say that the official winnings of the top poker pros are only a little part of their whole furtune through poker.

why can't they play in casinos? Are you saying because they will be recognized and harrassed? Don't most casinos have separate high stakes areas to prevent exactly that?

Yes that's true, but I don't think a lot of these huge stars (names like Dicaprio and Damon) would like to frequent casinos to play poker. I could be totally wrong though, but I still think most of these big stars their managers don't want their clients to be frequently linked with gambling because the media will run with anything to try and **** up their reps. Plus any public activity is still going to be a hassle for them, especially with the type of crowds casinos attract.

For years Johnny Carson held high stakes card games in his home with the Hollywood Elite. Since then it has been passed on to Steve Martin and now Tobey. This isn't anything new.
