So the lawyer sues in a case he can't win, but the poker celebs settle to avoid costly legal fees in a long drawn out legal rumble. Sounds like legal highway robbery by the plaintiffs to me. IMO TM settled strictly to end this issue. He didnt actually win A specific amount from ruderman. The game had no cash in it and Molly just did the books. She was the personal Asst for someone who played poker and that is how she got started, not saying who so please don't ask.

When you signed for markers IIRC you just made a line under your name / equaled 10k so every X you made was 20k. let's say you won 115k at nights end. You went home with nothing. Now let's say matt Damon lost 108 k that night. Molly would let matt know he had to write a check to you for 108k and that check plus 7k in cash was delivered to you. What you actually won or lost from Matt had nothing to do with the payment, it was all about your bottom line in the game.

TM actually has a Checking acct JUST for poker. On the top of the checks the acct name is POKER. So I am sure it would be easy for the IRS to bother him. He was smart to pay 80k to end this headache.
