Lots of frustrating comments on the Politico article. Tons of conservative posters there seem to have a gut wrench reaction when they see Dems like Frank and Reed mentioned. They are instantly like "What, Dems are involved? Ahhhhh!! It's bad! It has to be bad!"

Too much partisanship and very little common sense. F'ing idiots.

I usually take the conservative side. But you are correct. I have seen it on both sides, far too much on both sides. It shows a serious bigotry and probable a lack of intelligence.

Emailed Feinstein and this is the canned response I got from her:

Quote:
Dear xxxx:

Thank you for writing to express your support for the "Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act" (H.R. 1174). I respect your opinion on this matter, and I welcome the opportunity to share my point of view.

On March 17, 2011, Representative John Campbell (R-CA) introduced the "Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act," which would legalize additional types of Internet gambling, including online poker, and establish a system for regulation. This bill has been referred to the House Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit. To date, companion legislation has not been introduced in the United States Senate.

Although I recognize that you support the "Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act," I have generally opposed legislation that would expand Internet gambling. In my view, Internet gambling has become too easily accessible to minors, subject to fraud and criminal misuse, and too easily used as a tool to evade state gambling laws.

Again, thank you for your letter. Although we may have different perspectives on this particular issue, I appreciate hearing from you and will be mindful of your thoughts as the debate continues. If you have any additional comments or questions, please feel free to contact my Washington, D.C. staff at (202) 224-3841.

Sincerely yours,

Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator
Going to respond with the reason we are supporting legislation is to STOP things like criminal fraud and misuse as well as minors gambling via regulation and that this is the whole point of passing this legislation. Anyone else feel free to do the same.

Good job! Gogogogo. These kinds of responses are frustrating, but everyone in California needs to write to her again and tell her you "want online poker licensed in the U.S. for the jobs, revenues, and liberty, but it's very important to have regulations that prohibit minors from participating and have a way of dealing with cheating and fraud."

Feinstein sounds more like she's from Alabama than California!
