It's not just that the what we were going for (in the dumbest way possible thanks to you) isn't going to happen. It isn't going to happen and also there will be much much greater obstacles to it ever happening.

As much as I hate to use trendy terms I feel it's appropriate to call the effort, and you, an EPIC FAIL. Because of the timing of this fail online poker is actually doomed for the foreseeable future and beyond. Why don't you admit it? Maybe once the PPA gets it's head out of the clouds and starts dealing with reality we can do something.

In fact it is too late now anyway so just carry on. Just do what you do and never, never, never admit that you were wrong.

I don't think this would result in a big reduction of sales, but it could bring negative attention. For now, though, why would be boycott them all? Some opposed Reid/Kyl because it limited their ability to sell tickets online. I think they had a right to say something. Others, though, did oppose online poker specifically, like the NH lottery.

I imagine anything along these lines would be directed at the specific lotteries in opposition, right?
imo, a more positive approach would be to educate the lotteries that the player pools are not the same (ppl who play poker and ppl who buy lottery tickets, as many poker players never even play the lotteries) and online poker will not impact their bottom line. The fears I was hearing from the lotteries are that online poker would "steal" their revenue. The same for the states, they were worried online poker would take their lottery revenue. We need to let the states know online poker can also enhance and contribute to the states via taxes and would be another stream of revenue.

ya know.. I play some poker, and I read people pretty good.. and my read on you responding like that to a player, PPA member or not, means you no longer want your job.
There are ways to bow out gracefully.

If they take action to block us because they might lose revenue then they will work with us when they do lose revenue. The goal is to make the current condition worse than the future condition that they fear.

Our slogan will be: We can win if you don't play TM

Many of these lotteries simply want a monopoly on the online space (outside of horse racing, thought they'd like that too). They will be a little tricky for us.

P.S. Fewer than ten people showed up to the three Kentucky trials where our governor sought to seize the domain names of online poker and online casino gaming sites, despite multiple emails to the PPA membership requesting that they come to represent, give interviews, etc., so it's possible you may not find poker players as ready to travel to protest as you may imagine. In other words, if poker players were willing to protest by the thousands, don't you think there would have been a bunch of them already?
Your point is well taken and correct, but also why we're not having any real success on the legislative front. We cannot tweet and email our way to victory.

Thats not a slap at the PPA, although I would like to see state directors start to build a real grassroots effort. Players get the success they earn, so far we havent earned ****.

PPA is not trying to tweet and email our way to victory. PPA has lobbyists all over the Hill, along with other gaming interests. PPA has fundraisers for politicians, a PAC, and an active membership that regularly emails and phones their elected representatives.

The action plan is our way to keep up the social grassroots pressure, so lawmakers hear from us daily and know we're here and that we care. That being said, it's community-driven. Anyone with ideas ought to post them so we can act on them.

You're welcome. I think you're strategy from the beginning was so obviously counter productive that you should quit. You should really quit if you really want online poker, which that even has to be questioned now seeing how you have actively aided in nailing the coffin shut. It's not that you put up a good fight and lost. It's that you embarked on an obviously counter productive strategy and accomplished the opposite of what you say you are trying to accomplish and doomed online poker. Do you see the difference? There is no reason to think you aren't crooked. How could anyone ever trust you?

If you don't like the action plan and/or PPA, simply pretend they don't exist and do what you'd do if there were no such activity or organization.

Hello everyone I started a Reddit about the state lottery boycott. I could really use some upvotes on it to get the ball rolling. The more upvotes it gets the higher it moves up on their website. If we were to get about 3000 upvotes in a short enough period of time we would make it to the front page of the entire website.

Let's all be sure to participate in the community daily action plan! It is an easy, effective way for us to magnify our individual voices. By organizing, we have succeeded in securing virtually 100% of political social media poker discourse. State and federal lawmakers have noticed!

Let's also all try to post suggestions for future actions. After all, while the plan does work closely with PPA to optimize effectiveness of the plan, it's not part of PPA. It's the community plan and I'm simply the facilitator (as I have been since well prior to my role with PPA). Thanks!

I think we should open up state director forum on 2+2 with a thread from each state where the local state director can work to coordinate grassroots efforts in his or her state (own daily action plans, coordinate face-to-face meetings with reps in their states, strategize the best approach to regulation, etc).

The current setup cant possibly do justice to the 50 state fight that is necessary with or without Reid-Kyl. Lets take advantage of twoplustwo's traffic to help support the efforts of our state directors.

Thanks LG. That's a good idea that could come into play as this grows.

For now, I think I'd prefer to have the threads start here or in the PPA forum and see if it needs further segmenting down the road. For example. a single Wyoming thread would not needs its own subforum. If fact, it would suffer from being walled off from everyone else. Even NJ and CA probably don't at this point.

One thing I will do now is allow multiple threads per state based on specific issues, rather than merging them all into a catch-all single thread (much as we don't have one giant thread for all things federal).

I was thinking a PPA state director subforum with a thread for each state. Maybe keeping them in the legislation forum is a better idea in order to increase eyeballs. Im envisioning it as a place where players from each state could strategize, form social groups, etc within their state with someone (state director is most natural) acting as the "TheEngineer" in each thread and facilitating things. Keeping them all together will make it an easy place to share best practices, see if there are opportunities for cross-state cooperation, make it easier for you and the central PPA office to keep an eye on things and help when necessary etc.

Having an individual state thread probably works just as well at this point. Id encourage the PPA to encourage their state directors to come on, start a thread for their state, introduce themselves, and hopefully start or build on existing dialogue with the membership that posts here.

I think that would be a fine use for the 2+2 PPA forum, actually.

I would like to see more state directors posting on forums as well.

Or maybe a journalist should investigate the PPA. How about that?

I hope so. They'd undoubtedly write about the great work of an organization and a community in fighting against very long odds.

Anyway, as the daily action plan isn't part of PPA, this is not a PPA discussion thread. Please keep further discussion to that topic. If you wish to opine further on PPA, you'll need to start a new thread.
