I really want to know why he didnt try more online play? And "happened" to

have his worst run (or damn close not rereading whole thread to make sure

on that) when he did try online. Has to be because he was told or quickly

realized what took many of us too long to figure out. (way program runs just

ship most of it to the sites in rake).

Each new update is sadder than the previous one. And it seems to me that OP is less investing himself and goes less in depth in every year new update.

1st post was great as OP was to begin a new adventure, he was excited, he would be a professional poker player !

And then what ? OP doesn't take poker seriously enough to become the best poker player he can be, he's reluctant to play, and from years to years his life has become a huge grind.

I feel a lot of sadness in every OP's new thread and figure he's unhappy.

Great thread for all those who dream of becoming the next Tom durrrr Dwan.

Life is not always a faerytale, and reality is much more cruel and sad.

Not everyone is going to be the next Tom Dwan. Or Phil Ivey. Very few will make the big millions in this game. That's not the point. The point is that OP has found a way to make a living that he enjoys, and that pays the bills.

Please define grind. I'm fascinated by those who use the term in a negative sense, without seeming to think about the alternatives. Any regular job could be thought of as "a grind". Especially if the person doing it isn't having any fun.

Most of us weren't born rich, didn't marry rich, and don't have the great athletic or acting skills to make a fortune those ways. We have to work for a living. Week in, week out.

I think it's wonderful that - for some of us - poker provides a fun way of doing this. Maybe not as lucrative as other things we could be doing (I'll be the first to admit I'ld make more in an office) but the quality of life - and the sense of happiness and well being - are worth far more than a bigger paycheck.

Kudos to OP for making these posts. And best of everything to him in the future. I for one think he's inspiring. In a realistic way, not just a pie-in-the-sky dream world.

Anyone who "tl;dr"'s this thread evokes much sadness. Whether you agree with OPs choices, this is a story to follow.

I have medical insurance. Kaiser, self-bought, for myself, wife and kids. That, also, is just another thing to buy.

I brush my teeth, of course. But time passes. You'll end up getting root canals too, one day. Live long enough. But until then, be smug, it's okay. You have nothing else to do, I'm sure.

Dynasty,

What immediate and long term effect did the 2006 law have on B&M games in LV back in 2006?

I think that might be a predictor of things to come this year.

Dynasty - have you played against Matt Moore?

His thread is here:

It would be an interesting side story to hear if your paths have crossed.

Best topic ever, just read it all at once for the first time, it's interesting looking back at what poker was "back in the days".

thanks for sharing your experience
