It’s cool but I rather just do what they do night before the main with winner take all. Don’t need the rest of the tourney

Just wondering how people handle their length of stay at the WSOP. I am hitting a good time for me to play (assuming of course the Canadian /US border is open) and there is a number of tournaments at different parts of the schedule I would like to play. I am therefore considering making two or three trips rather than spending a couple weeks there at a time. Limit it to a round a week there and a couple weeks home kind of thing. For people with more experience when do you think burnouts hits and when would you be better to go home to re-energize?

Not to be boring right off the bat but it depends. I think one of the main things I consider is what recharges me and how much of that can I build in to my playing days and non playing days while I am in Vegas. Good physical health for me goes a long ways towards my ability to focus in the later hours. You'll hopefully have a track record of playing multi day tournaments and be able to honestly evaluate how much bandwidth that uses. Some experienced players are able to rent a house and bring their families/support systems to Vegas for the majority of the series and that keeps them refreshed. Maybe for some people the logistics of packing up and leaving vegas only to return a few days later doesnt add much value. Sounds like for you that's a nice way to pace yourself. I'd like to say I stay away from results oriented thinking but after I bust a few tournaments in a row I like to have a plan for how I am going into the next one with the right mindset.

Standard used to be week 1 and the last week were the best times with the middle being grindy/burn out. But now they've split each special event to weekends throughout so there seems to be no bad times to go. Just pick which looks the most fun to you.

Obviously depends on your personal preferences but also on your living conditions in Vegas and your approach to the WSOP grind.

I've been in Vegas for the full duration of the series in the past but I don't really play tournaments and the schedule is obviously way more flexible for cash game players. A lot of people probably wouldn't want to spend 6 weeks in a hotel, personally I didn't mind. Thanks to AirBnB there are obviously plenty other options though.

Re burnout, nobody forces you to play all day every day. I often play one day and take the next one off or I'll play between lunch and dinner and do other stuff the rest of the day.

Considering that sites like Hendon Mob keep track of "all-time WSOP cashes" as if cashing in the Series is a prestigious achievement, the flips are stupid for the brand. Whether you cash or not will be 100% down to luck. That's pretty cheesy. Otherwise everything looks solid on first glance.

I have five nights booked for October. Caesars rates suck, so I'm going to stay downtown. I may add on another trip, but it's been a weird year for me financially and the rates aren't friendly. Just grateful to have the opportunity to get back in there and play some. Missed it last summer.

My insider knowledge would have said the schedule comes out June 14.

Unfortunately, I'm far from perfect.

The Flip & Go is only a flipament at the first table. It's a regular tournament after that.

Source that the Flip & Go event #20 is 8-handed? Are most of the tournaments 8-handed? So seven out of the 8 players are eliminated in the first hand, then the seven can re-enter for another 1/8 chance to win a table and cash?

I didn’t. I asked if it was insider knowledge or just wishful thinking. How in the world do you see that as “doubting” someone instead of asking a clear cut question?

I’m concerned about the logistics of The Reunion on day two. The last starting flight is on the 3rd. There’s a $600 deep stack that starts on the 4th. If The Reunion day two starts the same day as the $600 deep stack, it’s going to be insanely crowded. I already think The Reunion will probably beat the Colossus for turnout and the $600 deep stack will also draw in a massive field.

Didnt the golden nugget used to also run a series that ran concurrent to the WSOP? Does anyone know when their schedule comes out?

This is not completely true because it is pineapple so you do have a decision to make that gives you the most equity 8 ways and also can maybe get some live tells on opponents ranges.

The Grand. I tried looking it up a few weeks ago but found nothing on it. Not sure about now, though.

This is a cool wrinkle, I think this was easily missed. I wonder what the optimum strategy is if you're dealt like As 8s 8d

It's on Hendon with no specific event info yet.

Site says 9/28 - 10/20.

You see the flop and then you discard one card

Isn't everybody's three cards face-up in the GGPoker Flip & Go so there won't be live tells on ranges?

Question. I’m not s tourney guy. I play cash games. But I’m thinking about one of the $600 or $800 deep stack events. Does it matter which one I pick? Like, are there more donkeys in earlier events or later on?

I've played a bunch of cheap stuff at the WSOP in recent years ($365, 400, 600, and 1k bracelet events).

You're most likely not going to have 8-9 crushers at your table. Probably a couple strong players and then a lot of mediocrity, with maybe a few outright spots if you're lucky. I saw some insanely bad play in the colossus last year, but it's usually not quite like that.

Table draw is going to be a factor. Sometimes you'll just roll a bad table. I would look into the reunion or the colossus for a soft MTT though. Those are going to attract a lot of punters and true casuals.

The flipside is that the fields are so huge, you basically have zero chance of a meaningful score.
