The only bad thing about it is that a lot of players don't like it. Mostly older people who have never played 6max online.

I doubt that's going to be an issue with tournaments except for potential increases in fees but small stakes cash games might break more easily. In 9-handed games, players started complaining when two others were away from the table. With 3 players away you often saw one or two guys saying they aren't going to play shorthanded. With 8 players at the table that might now be the case once two people are sitting out.

Maybe my comments were somewhat premature. It's still 4 months out. Felt a lot closer.
Yeah, I was being flippant, but that was my feeling - 4 months is not *that* much closer than when they announced in past years, and in a pandemic it shouldn't be surprising they're being more cautious. But you make a good point that of all years, this is a year when people will need to do more planning with it being at a completely different time of year than they're used to.

Theres so much that goes into coordinating almost 100 tournaments over 2 months. Now throw in a pandemic and labor shortage

The biggest problem for me is other casinos have stuff in the summer still there is the online in July and NBA Summer League is in August instead of during WSOP. So by not putting out the schedule we don't know what is the best time to come when the stuff that is usually condensed in 7 weeks is spread out for 5.5 months.

It would be nice to at least get a date for 10-12 events spread out over the series. Ill have to pick the week of vacation I want to use in October in the next week or 2 and Ill guess Ill just pick one and hope for the best. I'm sure there are plenty of people with regular jobs that need to put in vacation time fairly soon too.

In years past they have released a preliminary schedule, with dates for the main event, seniors event, millionaire maker, monster stack, etc. It would be great if they could just do that.

I’m pretty sure they did release the dates of the main.

Here is why it is bad for cash games. For tournaments, it is okay as the rake is already prepaid.

Jon Rahm with 6 shot lead after 3 round tests positive and is forced to withdraw. Wow.

Similar to the recent WSOP final table rules. Will they be doing that again? Wouldn't make sense. Strange they are still testing for outdoor sports.

Jon Rahm was in the Covid Protocol because a close contact had tested positive last week. He had the option to skip the event or do daily testing and limited use of indoor facilities among other things.

He decided to play anyway. Sucks for him, 1st at the Memorial pays close to $1.7mil.

A modern athlete is going to be asymptomatic. The old guy he high fives on his way to the trophy might not be so lucky.

The right decision.

Old guy decided on his own to attend a golf tournament where he would be in a crowd

What was the right thing to do that USA didn't? I just want to point out that Sweden didn't have any shutdowns and has a lower death per capita from covid than USA. Also USA average age is 9 years older and average weight is 40 pounds heavier than the rest of the world. We also have a higher amount of people with type A blood which is believed to be affected worse by covid. So I think covid was always going to hit America worse. Also from what I'm seeing the UK has a slightly higher death per capita from covid than we do. My mom got covid and she wore a mask whenever she went anywhere so clearly that didn't help. I'm not sure what more any of us could have done to prevent the spread of covid.

They said he would not disclose if he was vax or not, but if someone was vax then they would not have to have required testing. So I guess that answers it.

You misunderstood me, when I said “rest of the world” I meant USA as well. I meant “rest of world” as in “everyone but the poster in question”

The crazy thing with Rahm is that for all the people that bet him to win, pre tournament or live odds, that would be an auto loss since as soon as he teed the 1st hole its action.

But, for some reason William Hill US and Bet MGM paid all those bets as winners!
100's of thousands in winnings.
