The CEO of the worlds largest manufacturer said there's won't be enough vaccines until 2024. I would trust him over the propaganda from AstraZeneca to raise their stock prices. Stop spreading false rumors to prop up these companies! It's disgusting what you are doing.

The story you are referring to is a CEO claiming it will take 4 years to produce 15 billion vaccine doses. I have no idea if that’s true, but even if it is, that in no way contradicts the possibility of producing 300 million doses for the US in the first half of 2021.

300 million vaccines for the us? Cool. Way less than 100 million people would even get the shot if they had the opportunity, and it would takes such a long time to get those people their shots.

I don't know where you are getting those number from. But if a lot of people don't want to get the vaccine, that will just make it easier for those people who do want to get it. And events like the WSOP can open up only for those who have had the vaccine.

After we do get live WSOP events back in Las Vegas or wherever, hopefully in 2021, does the WSOP will plan to continue offering some online bracelet events that can be played from home by players in countries outside the U.S., like the WSOP offered on ggpoker this year? Is that cat out of the bag for good now?

If GGPoker offers them a sweet deal to do it again and there’s no legal reason not to, I have no doubt there will be an encore performance.

I dont think the wsop will be 100 percent back to normal until 2022 but with the vaccines looking like theyre coming in the next few weeks, i think they might be able to get something pretty close to the real thing, especially if they put it off until the fall.

Of course, things could go wrong like no one wanting to take the vaccine, or bad side effects start to show up etc which would nix this idea.

I am calling for a Fall 2021 WSOP as well. Oct/Nov timeframe. Back to normal in 2022.

Yeah. The wsop could end up having a pretty big showing. I don't know if it could be exactly 100% but could be kinda close to that if nothing goes wrong with the vaccines.

In a best case scenario, we might end up having 2 months of the vaccine available to the general public before wsop starts, more than that if they hold it in the fall.

Of course, the astrazeneca vaccine has already hit some credibility issues but nothings gone wrong with pfizer and moderna yet.

The front line workers will have all been vaccinated by wsop. A bet a doctor will win wsop 2021.

To avoid all points of contact we should eliminate chips and cards entirely. Have the players be given an electronic hand to memorize and they will verbalize their bets to the dealer who will write them down

My understanding of how the WSOP is scheduled once it moved to the Rio is that June/July was the only time that they had the space because most people don't hold their conventions over the summer in a desert. Any other time, like the Fall, they can't have the WSOP at the Rio because they'd be losing out on maximizing their revenue.

With the new Convention Center the Rio is basically obsolete. If anything, plans to tear it down might interfere with a Fall 2021 WSOP there.

But I guess Covid puts everything on hold so they might even do the 2022 WSOP there.

A live WSOP in 2021 is still very much a possibility. Even one that looks/feels not too different from what we’re used to and includes a decent number of events. Maybe even with some international players.

Just not in the usual time slot starting in late May. But late Summer or Fall is certainly a possibility. If you look at conventions calendars for 2021 you can see that through the Spring (almost?) everything meaningful has been canceled or rescheduled for later in the year. That might be a pretty good indication for where WSOP is headed.

Even in the Fall masks will still be required unless they are using the plexiglass dividers. There are many factors that will be taken into consideration. Large number of people in a confined space. Not everyone will agree to be vaccinated. If they are allowing 1000 people in convention room wearing masks then they should allow Allegiant Stadium to be full of Raiders fans for the opener of the 2021 NFL season in the same same city.

They have pool tourney after which is nothing compared to poker so at least could push back a little

To be clear, when I said “one that doesn’t look/feel too different” I wasn’t saying I thought people wouldn’t have to wear masks.

In theory they could even host some events where you need proof of vaccination to play but I’m not sure if they would want to go that route. But that could be an option for the two seniors events for example.

As far as scheduling goes, you also have to consider where the rescheduled conferences end up. The calendar will look very different from years past.

There is a. Hence they will allow all those Raider fans in the stadium.it appears to me no later than mid 2022 vaccines will have enough penetration that masks will provide little incremental protection.

Keep in mind you will need two people who chose to skip the vaccine, then one of those must catch the virus and then finally those two have to have proximity to pass the virus. Once the penetration of vaccinations and those who have recovered reaches some point the threat of spreAd will decrease enough. And this ignores development of therapeutics and protocols.

The reality is that at some point the perception of many will be ‘it is your own darn fault if you did not take the jab’. I expect that to be wide spread by 2022 but it could be widespread enough next fall that masks and distancing are history.

That's what I think too. By summer of 2022 I think masks will start to be optional and the wsop series will be pretty close to normal. Maybe not totally even then but close. But in 2021 I can see a very shortened live series late summer early fall. Definitely won't be the same but it would be something.
