That’s not true.

If during an event you take a COVID test and it comes back positive, or you’re a “close contact” of someone with a positive test, you may be DQed.

you will not be DQ'd if you remain asymptomatic.

Even if you test positive?

I was referring to you saying that you can be DQ'ed if you are a "close contact" of someone with a positive test. You can not be DQ'ed for merely being around someone that tested positive.

Here is a good article with the WSOP guy explaining this all.

I did this in 2019. Wired in $x. Put $y in a TBIC (it had a different name then I think). Took $x-y in Rio chips, they wouldn’t give me cash. They also told me I wasn’t allowed to take the chips to a cage to cash them out right away but I think it would’ve been fine. What I did do was use them in WSOP cash games and cash out as needed throughout my two weeks. Wasn’t a problem. Most likely could’ve just cashed them out right away — what’re they gonna do, prevent me from getting my cash back? I suppose worst case they make me return the wire

There’s many locations that provide rapid tests to people concerned they have COVID. any of those places would test you if you went in and you could get a positive result.

LOL at whoever posited a scenario where someone wins Main Event, collects money, then tests positive, and WSOP somehow claws back the money and strips title. LMFAO!

They could do a couple of things on top of that like ban you from playing in anything WSOP related. But most likely they just tell you not to use wires with them in the future.

Do any of you think there is a chance in Hades of someone say making a final table and when feeling a bit fatigued, maybe a cough, or even a minor fever going to take a Rapid Covid test without being forced to ? Sorry but in the real world it's not going to happen with +99% of players. The WSOP would have to drag them kicking and screaming away from the table based upon the CDC symptom list and force them to "PROVE" they are healthy.

I think the most likely scenario would be the Rio telling them they need to go get tested or be DQed, and then they go get tested.

The question would be if they'd disclose the result if the test came back positive. I doubt it.

I wonder what's happening if somebody at a final table starts coughing or looks under the weather. Are 5 other guys jumping up to demand an immediate rapid test?

Agreed - I just can't conceive of a scenario that someone self reports. Poker players aren't exactly know as being stereotypical Mother Teresa types.

Myself included.

I doubt the WSOP would have the means to facilitate that, but I'd 100% ask that person to wear a mask if they're showing symptoms.

Not apples to apples, but I am booked at the Rio from 10/17 - 10/25 for $606 total (Daimond friend = no resort fees).

I think any recreational player who plays primarily cash (me) would. The longer the levels and deeper the structure, the less disadvantaged I am v. tourney regs.

I missed an earlier post I think. What event are you referring to?

I've been going to Vegas for the series since it moved to the Rio, and the cash games are consistently awesome in the low and mid stakes. Chock full of hometown heroes, tilty tournament players who just busted out of yet another event, and people who are there to tell their friends they played at the WSOP.

If these games are bad I really _really_ want to find out where the good games are.

Is your Diamond friend going with you?

Yesterday watched somebody try to check-in at Ballys using someone else’s diamond account number. When his ID didn’t match name on diamond account his rate tripled and was sent out of Diamond room to main check-in area.

If you're a rec who plays cash you probably have a significant edge on the majority of live mtt regs

lol, funny you guys say the cash games are so soft. The first time I went to Vegas was in 2016 I think, and I was SO DISAPPOINTED by how bad the PLO games were.

But I had been spoiled, so I guess my barometer was off.

Not like he spilled a secret. People who play elsewhere do so for a million different reasons but not because the games are softer.

The PLO games are soft. You just have to always run it once to make the game go faster. Otherwise, you occasionally get three hands in a down.
