I'm sorry if this was stated but why don't people open a players account at the cage? Especially if playing for several weeks

Not sure if true, but I do believe that Brandon Cantu said Jeff Lisandro stole an ante at the Rio. #thief #robbing

The reason why the vegas hotels don't have cameras in their hallways has to do with the whole "what happens in vegas..." dogma. If the cameras were there then there'd be a lot of footage of people entering their rooms in the company of prostitutes, drug dealers and all other manifestations of their dirty fantasies that they harbor during their otherwise normal day-to-day lives.

Few people want to be haunted by those images if the footage were to become public. This would also leave a lot of room for blackmail.

I wonder if someone pinched Chainsaw's computer and hacked his 2+ account?

I might have missed it - Has there been any more follow up from WSOP staff on this?

FWIW - I always keep the DND sign on my door when staying at the Rio since my laptop won't fit in the safe. It isn't much but at least it keeps my room from being open while the cleaning staff is working in the room or working in an adjacent room. I have seen housekeeping leave a room open with their cart holding the door and walk down to another room to give someone towels/toiletries/etc.

I guess he could have been impaired... to be honest, he looked more mentally challenged or in shock than falling down drunk. Not handicapped mind you, just really stupid... which is why I just turned away and got in car and drive off after trying to see how squirrelly he was planning to get. he could have been just playing it off, I've seen that before when a thief gets caught in the act they begin acting impaired or drunk because they are literally in shock and adrenalized.

FWIW... don't leave ANYTHING in your vehicle.

I do the same everywhere I go - lock suitcase, leave DND sign up the entire stay, etc. Last year at the Rio there was one day where I came back to a cleaned room despite having the sign on the door. Nothing was missing so I never really complained about it, figured it was pointless. Obviously housekeeping/staff can come into your room at any time and you wouldn't even know it unless something is wrong. I hate being paranoid though :/

The rooms at the Rio have safes.

Bedbugs are not a sign of neglect - they have been found at upscale hotels, Times Square NYC upscale movie theaters, etc.
People pickup a few bedbug hitchhikers, go to the movies or their hotel room, and shortly the place they sat down gets infested.

I think it is more for liability reasons if one of said drug dealers for example robbed you, and security didn't do anything. They would have responsibility to watch banks of cameras and take action.

So, better to do nothing...take a few PR hits every now and then, like this situation and keep it going.

Feel bad for them losing all of their stuff, but they kind of didn't help the situation by leaving cash and/or valuables in their bags. They should have locked it up in the room safe. If no room safe, they should have locked it up with the safe at the front desk.

Whenever I make a room reservation, I always make sure that there is a room safe to lock up my valuables. Upon check-in, I immediately put my valuables in my room safe.

Really doubt it's for patron-protection reasons...hotels don't give a F about you. More likely it's for hotel liability reasons...not sure exactly how / why, but there's no way it's driven by patron privacy concerns rather than their own bottom line.

This statement is so silly. How many of the people who were reporting thefts here were using the safe? How many of those thefts do you think still would have happened if they were?

A safe by any other name is just as insecure. Probably more secure than leaving it on the bed though.

Most maids who have been at a casino long enough know the bypass safe codes.

For large amounts of cash...put it in the safe at the front desk...or keep it on your person.

A "safe" does not guarantee safety but how many threads on 2+2 are there of 35k going missing from a room safe?
