Mixed games have been alive and doing great in 2016.

Online poker offers people good enough and smart enough an opportunity to actually win money from playing a game on their computer. The fact that this exists and has existed for as long as it has is quite remarkable really.
The additions of new formats introduced by the entire online poker industry is also bringing back recreational players to the game. These players now get to play in formats where they aren't eaten alive which allows them to have a better playing experience.
Expect to see all the sites in 2017 continue towards creating formats that please recreational players while online pros complain that they aren't getting enough of their money.

Even if you end up being a complete failure in this industry, you can sleep well knowing it won't prevent you from becoming president of a superpower.

Posting my 13th consecutive winning year online in 2016 and I am only a hobbyist at this point who doesn't even turn my HUD on like half the time. So ya its not all doom and gloom although it was infinity better 10 years ago and a hell of a lot better 5 years ago. But still money to be made.

Online poker is enjoyable and a real challenge. It would be boring if it was easy to win for me, a recreational player.

even if online poker won't be beatable in a couple of years it will still allow you to get good at the game and win in live poker which is a growing market.

Online poker will always be beatable in new markets and there are tons of those to tap in to.

Saw an argument at 10PLO turn into a heads up match at 100PLO. Egos always providing edge.

The cool thing about VR is that for quite a while only the more wealthy countries and people will be using it and you know what that means .... not as many east Europe grinders and Russians and Ukrainians etc.

The majority of players are still very lazy when it comes to studying and improving their game, even in this day when the tools are basically out there for everyone to use. The payoff isn't what it used to be, but hard workers can still make it.

Amayas much hated policies are working in terms of Rakeback grinders/bush league pros are being squeezed out of the games. if they can find a way to push out or limit the volume of Romania/Lithuania type countries ....the rec/pro ratio will further Improve.

Stars will also introduce mobile only tables, reducing the impact/advantage of 3rd party software aids.

All this may make the games fun again for casual players. Less pros. More recs. Without so much software in play it's back to it being a more intuitive version of poker as online began

To me, there is something still magical about the Sunday Millions. I am based in the US but also maintain a home in Mexico where I can play the Sunday Millions (and other Stars tables) and knowing that I could play for a million dollars every Sunday was a huge motivator in setting up in Mexico. It may sound hokey, but to me there is something really cool about being able to take on the players from all over the world in a tourney with some pretty good stakes on the line.

Since then I have cashed the Sunday Millions multiple times with a really deep run in one of the 5 Million GTD editions of the Sunday Millions. The Sunday Millions alone keeps my venture in Mexico alive & well and profitable.

As long as there is a Sunday Millions to look forward to every week, I think we all have a reason to be positive about online poker.
