I'm not trying to rag on him, I respect his superhuman abilities demonstrated to win that prop bet. I recall he said there was one day where instead of eating nothing, he ate a few raspberries, and that was just enough energy in order to barely get through the day, while exercising all day. It was pretty hardcore, he was not messing around, pure grit. I wonder if he can somehow make a similar bet today and cash in on some easy money? I guess nobody would be foolish enough to bet against him now.

His hair is not that long right now, unless he put on a wig just for you.

Is it true that Matusow just flat out welched on the weight loss bet with Ted?
If so, never understood how he was able to keep any friends in poker after doing that, if true.
Poker players are generally forgiving and it’s not like we have a players union where we actually stick together and refuse players action that deserved to be refused. Also not everyone knows all the dirt bag moves that everyone else have pulled.

Not sour grapes.. but my friend asked for a pic w Ted and was denied. I’m sure teds a nice guy and we were both fans from hsp days. I mean he’s one of the og poker tv faces from the early seasons. So that just makes him a legend to some degree.

I’m not a big fan of taking pics w celebrities and I can almost understand refusing to take a pic w a fan. Like I was equally surprised my friend fan boyed him as I was that he refused the pic. It’s kinda hilarious the entire sequence of events.

To ask to take a picture with a dude and get shot down, all the Viagra in world probably wouldn’t have gotten his dic up for next month

That said, I’ve played with Ted and was one of few people I’ve ever been excited to have at my table. He’s OG and a pure gambler. Bum rushed a HU 10/20K limit holdem game with his own money

Lol. Ditto excited to have him in the game, he splashes around too.

He offered me a 25% staking deal for the rest of my session to keep the game full when I was about to quit.

He’s a cool guy.

Played with him some 40/80 mix and 20/40 stud.

Nice to play 20/40 with a Stud Legend

So, the entire sequence of your above story was "kinda hilarious"?

You also gotta know that prior to 2012-ish, commerce didnt offer spread buyins for their games of NLHE. today they have 500-1500 spread buyins . back them they had a shitty structure of "$100 NLH"- 2/3 blinds, "200 NLH"-3/5 blinds and "400NLH"- 5/10 blinds and you can only buy in for 150% of any of those buyins after u lost everything on the table. The only games without a cap IIRC is if you played limit games and they had no cap. I think the biggest running limit hold em game was 6/12 around 2012- anyone can feel free to correct me if i'm wrong. I havent been inside commerce since 2012, but it's my stomping grounds where I got started. - just a side note, if anyone in vegas has ever encountered a commerce player , they are usually super lag or super tag because those short buyins made them literally fight for scraps, it's a shitty playing style but a profitable one if you play against them

I started playing limit hold'em at the Commerce around 2004 and they had a regular 100/200 LHE game that ran every day. I started transitioning to NL around 2009, but I know that the 100/200 LHE game continued to run daily for many more years. There has always been regular 60/120 and 40/80 LHE games from back then through today.

I think you're right , the thing is, at that time, it was ran on the VIP side ( that's my only logical perspective of how it would have been possible ) and i didnt pay attention to limit games. I was referring to the regular side for 6/12 , it was played on the elevated podium close to the cage wall where the 200 and 400 NLHE games ran. Also have a question which im sure i already know the answer to: Is the buffet still there tucked away in the corner? lol or has it been turned to something else?

I don't think there is any players buffet at the Commerce anymore. If it wasn't done away with a long time ago, Covid certainly killed it off. And the free food for seated players is also a thing of the past. Now you have to pay for your scrambled egg breakfast and shrimp cocktails, all the while not earning any player comps on your card. Unless you are a high stakes California games degen, don't expect much from the Commerce anymore.

Unless it changed recently I think you do get hourly comps for playing at commerce you can use toward food. It used to be that top section games could just order whatever they wanted comped but that ended long time ago.

What you get now (for certain qualifying games) is $4 per hour credit on your players card, which can be cashed out for every 25 hours of accumulated playing time ($100 for every 25 hours played) with a monthly reset. You can't use this promotion for food credits or anything else, just a monthly cash rebate (rakeback). If you played 49 hours in a month, you'd get $100 cash because you were 1 hour short of the next milestone (needed to reach the full 25 hour increment before it resets) and you'd lose the extra 24 hours for that month and start over next month.

this is horrible. food used to be free on the VIP side pre-2012 but the collection then was $9 / half hour. I would make sure to eat like a king . I know they had comps/points after 2013 on the regular side , but i didnt know it was this horrible.

I also missed the days when the jackpot was aces full of anything as long as you beat the board with both hole cards playing. Those were the days. I hit so many table shares back then...
