You haven't mentioned how much you cashed out but there is no way that your $8.23 was good. It's usually 4% charge for currency conversion which is outrageous.

Have a question regarding cashing out stars funds post-ban.

My current overall stars balance is x amount, however the balance I have available to cashout or transfer to other people is much lower than that due to receiving recent transfers. Post-ban, will I be able to cashout all of my funds even if I have not completed sufficient play-through requirements for the amount in my account I am unable to transfer or cashout at the moment?

What was the exact USD amount? $8 on $524 isn't bad, but did they also charge you a vig on conversion?

The vig is always bad for AUD... we have been getting raped for 3% from stars since the amaya acquisition

Hi people,

I will move to Australia in the end of this June because of my wife's job change. I was thinking to go online and grind Pokerstars more because I will have lots of free time.
As I understood PS life is coming to an end in there, very bad. What do think about my other options?

Also want to ask Aussies, how is the live poker challenges in Melbourne? Is there sth worth?

Thanks,

The rake is very high but the games are very soft live in Australia mtts are great value at crown and higher stakes cash is fine

Online your options will be acr and unregulated Chinese sites once stars leaves. You can probably VPN smaller sites if u have an overseas address but tos etc

i think the worst part of live poker in australia is the depressing atmosphere, rude floor and dealers, no phones, overpriced drinks and crap structures.

Idk where you play but at Crown Melb the games are super soft and can be super fun on the weekends. Rake is okay not great but definitely beatable at 1/3+. Tourneys are also quite juicy.

If you're playing anything lower than 2/5, chances are you're not posting on this forum. And even then, I'd say most are rec players and rake shouldn't have a huge impact on that 1 session a week they're playing.

That's not to say that rake isn't high, but given the only alternative we have is no longer an option, I'd say $15 rake isn't the worst option in the world right about now.

Thanks guys for information. I will definetely try Crown Melb when I got there!

Do you see is it imminent that stars will leave Australia market by the end of June? Or is there some possibility to reverse that decision?

It will leave at some point when is uncertain. A group of senators will try and get it reinstated but that will both take time and is not certain to succeed. As far as live poker rooms go crown Melbourne is the best then star Sydney then crown Perth in a distant third for serious poker players followed by everything else way lower.

If you have money on there, I'd be cashing out before you move. I don't imagine we have very long left and it'd hardly be worth your while to make all the changes to your account and then have to cash out imminently thereafter. Obv wouldn't be depositing if you don't have any funds on there.

As far as cash games, Crown Melbourne spreads 1/3 to 5/5 hold'em 24/7. PLO is more finicky but goes through phases where it's running daily. Lots of home games as well which you'll come across as you play.

Crown Perth just changed their main cash game to 1/3 $200 max buy in 10% capped at $15.

Cant see how that could be beat playing 20 hands and hour.

Under 1000 hour sample size, but I've crushed 1/3 at Crown Melbourne with the same rake structure. Only difference is the buyin cap is 300 vs 200.

That being said, it definitely has taken a dent out of my hourly. If it wasn't a short term arrangement it would be much more worth my time to be working in hospitality for a similar variance-free hourly. I know they don't care based on the fact that the horrendous 1/2 100$ buyin cap 20$ rake is still offered, but if they did care they should really look into changing it to a 10 or 12 max rake. There is no way that the poker room survives in its current form long term as online poker gets wiped out and the game loses overall popularity.

Crown has tried to phase out the 1/2 NLH a couple of times, but there is lots of demand for it. Afaik they barely make money from the 1/2 game, they are never going to lower the rake.
