how can people be this **** dumb? it is not against the law to eat while driving. It is (as it is in basically every country with laws) illegal to drive while distracted, if that distraction is eating, using cell phone, putting on makeup, turning around to do something in the back seat, etc. anything that causes you to take your eyes off the road. If a cop sees this happen they will obv pull you over - as they would in the US or any other (non third world) country. If you are looking at the road while eating a snickers bar you will not be pulled over/fined.

As for Leyonhjelm the guy is obv a pos but seemed he was leading the charge for regulation, hope we can still get something this year.

No real reason for the former and it has only really been a recent phenomenon (like last 10 to 15 years). Civil liability laws have had a lot to do with it.

As for the latter well it is only expensive given we have some of the world's highest salaries here and property prices.

For these reasons alone it seems silly that the online poker operators aren't doing more to try to get themselves licensed to operate here. Together with Russia (and the US - can't leave them out) I would have to say Australia would be the next most lucrative country on a per person capita.

Depends on how extreme the offence was and what license you have. A full license driver doing 5 km/h over is no where near as bad as a p plater doing 30 over - how fast were you going and what license were you on?

Also, you only get addicted to pokies if you choose to. You could say the same thing about cigarettes, in reality they're only legal because they can tax the **** out of it, that's the same in a lot of countries, not their fault I smoke though - can't blame the gov for everything, you need to take some personal responsibility at some point

That's bascially what happened in the US with my state. Now we have the state lottery running a poker site that is a monopoly and it just sucks. I have this regulated option for online poker and I still play on unregulated sites. The same thing is happening with medical weed, 2 retired cops own the only dispensaries around and it's a **** show where they always run out of products. I know people with real medical problems and instead of dealing with 2nd rate weed stores they go thru the black market.
