I don't think that this is true.

Some countries to have done this include:
-USA (reinstated by state)
-Italy
-Portugal

I think Netherlands is considering reinstating it too.

Hey, get PPA involved, they’ll save the day! Look what great things they did here in the US!

PSA for anybody playing on the domestic apps.

Several PPP private clubs linked to ones known to me have been raided and apparently some of the guys alleged to be running them have had bank accounts frozen

Such ****ing bull**** of course but if youíre involved, I would be withdrawing funds and if youíre running a club I would be closing that **** down

No idea how the Chinese ones are doing since the new legislation?

How would the AFP know about online poker apps, and be bothered hunting them? Strange.

Thereís this thing called the law and these people called cops who seem to want to uphold it.

Either way, I hate this ****ing law but I hate more the idea that poker people would get arrested for playing so Iíve given the PSA and Iíll walk away from the conspiracy theories

My 2 private PPP games has been closed down by the operators today so take my warning for what its worth

Correct me if I'm wrong but facilitating unregulated gambling is illegal in almost all countries right? I mean yeah it only exists here because of the new pullouts but its still a pretty big and obvious nono. But id be interested to know more info if anyone has any.

Re: TAKE ACTION: Need urgent help to keep Australian online poker. Deadline 21 July #AusFight4P

that raid was on a live home game casino. running apps should be pretty covert and hard to catch, unless it was the same group and they uncovered it during the raid?

TAKE ACTION: Need urgent help to keep Australian online poker. Deadline 21 July #AusFight4Poker

What are you talking about? It was on people running PPP apps.

To be clear.

The online private games/clubs run via the ppp app have been closed down and the people running the games have had their homes raided and their bank accounts frozen

"The game consisted of a professional set-up with professional poker tables, professional chips. It was quite well-resourced and established.
they raided a LIVE game, there is video footage of a poker table, there is nothing relating to online ppp apps.

Ok, i am not talking about the stuff on the link. Iím talking about my post about the people running ppp app games getting arrested. All of my online app based games have been closed down in the past 24 hours and some of the runners have been approached and interviewed by the AFP

Ah ok , that link confused me. Hopefully the players at least get their money. Im just surprised how the AFP were able to track down these PPP games. Should be focusing their resources on catching serious crime, not poker players.

the guy running the live game also runs clubs on ppp, the police seized laptops, phones and bank accounts which are related to the ppp clubs

They view raiding a 1/3 game as more important than investigating actual significant crime because it makes for a good headline when they 'shut down an illegal casino that might have been laundering money for organised crime' even though obviously it's a card game not a casino and the idea that organised crime would launder... cash into also cash at a 1/3 underground home game is laughable.

I'm a law abiding citizen and my three encounters with Aus law enforcement in my live have all been overwhelmingly negative due to police incompetence, the police here have no problem with lying and the one time I was a victim of an actual crime (attempted arson, guy broke in and lit a mattress on fire in our garage at a sharehouse because he was feuding with one of my roommates at the time) with two witnesses who knew the perp and saw him commit the crime they said they 'didn't have the resources to investigate'. Too busy raiding 1/3 games obv. They did nothing when a friend of mine was being stalked by a guy who had previously committed domestic violence against her either despite multiple witnesses to the stalking/violating a restraining order. Nothing was done despite this going on for months with a restraining order in place.

and they wonder why many law abiding citizens have a '**** the police' attitude. There are plenty of good cops as well as bad, but the bad apples spoil the bunch in this case because there are too many police who are lazy, incompetent, liars or a combination of all three. Even framing the bust as 'helping combat organised crime and money laundering' is obvious bull****. How the hell would someone launder money through an illegal private home game, turning unreported cash income into unreported cash income?

There's a whole ****load of money laundering that goes through the high stakes tables and the Mahogany room at Crown/Star though with drug dealers using the casino to clean their money and i'm sure they don't give a **** about that

Ok, that concludes my 'large portions of law enforcement in Australia are incompetent, lazy and/or liars' rant for today.

Bonus link for police brutality against disabled pensioner for no reason, and not being stood down, and something only being done because said disabled pensioner had a home security camera. Police corruption isn't just a US problem.
