Well, for starters, I don't know how much worse it can get before it bottoms out. I don't think it will ever get back to what it was, but I do believe the situation will get better than it is now.

Can AC house 12 casinos? No, probably not. Does it need to? No! Can it host 6-8? Probably.

I think a lot of people with big money are just waiting to snatch up property and/or land on the cheap now. Revel will sell, and most likely reopen as a rebranded casino. Showboat will probably sell to the current high bidder for Revel, and be transformed into hotels. Ditto for Atlantic Club.

A lot of the existing casinos will be turned into hotels and amusement. I agree with the poster who said they should build a theme park on or around the boardwalk, or even a water park... or something between the two. They should take cues from a place like Wildwood in terms of their boardwalk and amusement. Moreys is great.

Most of what doesn't get knocked down for hotels and amusement will be knocked down for construction of new casinos eventually. I hope the Taj closes so they can knock it down and build something better in it's place.

AC will probably never die, but they're going to be down for the count for a good decade or so.

I agree. The first time I went to AC was 1980. Yes, before poker. My GF cried, and said this can't be Atlantic City, but we had a good time. We spent the day on the beach, and nightlife in the casinos.

This was mid-summer, and the city was packed; however, I wonder why they didn't embrace the ocean and boardwalk more? They didn't have to then.

Now, I think a water park would be great for this place. More outdoor activities couldn't hurt. Yes, there will be debate on how much or how little this affects gaming, but why not? AC needs something.

I also agree on the # of casinos. I think about six. Borgata and Harrah's at the marina, and about four on the boardwalk. Caesars and Ballys may even combine. Just spent a week; stayed at Caesars; played at Ballys Wild Wild West. There is a lot of empty, but maintained, space in these casinos.

Before the casinos, Atlantic City was nothing but a large and terrifying slum. The 3-4 decade casino monopoly was the chance for a comeback. Instead, they squandered the opportunity to restore a once great resort destination, and chose to simply milk the cash, allowing AC to remain a terrifying slum - with casinos.

I don't see any potential comeback for a long, long time. Such a sad waste of potential ...

So many memories....

For what it's worth, they must give out all the bad beat jackpot money before they close.

There's a sliding scale of losing hands which gets worse each hour. The last hour all you need is to lose with a full house, (if it hasn't been won prior).

no offense but the casino is a mess, you cant leave your table with money on the table cause someone could steal it from you..

went to the bathroom while on poker break, a homeless person was begging at the entrance inside the casino!

Not to mention the guy that came to me offering me a hooker while i was playing slots

No sympathy here. Did they even try to compete with Borgata the last 5-7 years? I don't remember hearing about big tournament series like borgata does to draw in the big crowds. They let the place turn to ****.

I remember being excited about going down there to play the USPC in 2007 maybe only to find out it was dead as can be and I had just entered a 550 dollar tourney with under 30 entries.

First place I ever played live casino poker back in the 90s.

Sad how much of a dump the Taj has turned into over the years.

I'll never forget thats where i first played poker, at 19 years old.

Bought into a 1.2 NL game for 100$ with all white chips. Those were the days.

You run better than me man...

The above would be categorized as my most pleasant Taj trip ever.

You paint a prettier picture than I recall.

The Taj is where I cut my teeth @ 2/4 LHE and 1-5 Stud years ago.

You could satty into the $10k USPC main event with $10.

Nothing but love for the Taj. Thankfully a few of the floor and dealers came to Parx when it opened.

Ditto, Ditto and Ditto (actually a video poker machine).

The straw that made me head out the door was a short break incident.

Playing at a full table, decided to head out of the room to the bathroom down the hall. Returned in less than 5 minutes and the chip stacks looked wrong, always stack the same amount per stack.

Did a quick count and half the stacks were missing a red. Good thing it was only about an hour into the session and only had a few greens on the table.

I called out the table and got stone walled. Asked the dealer, the same one that started the down, and he smiled, didn't say a word. Steamed, played another couple hands until the BB, picked up my chips, left and haven't been in the room since. That was 2007.

Been back to the Hotel for trade shows and the like, but never dropped another dime at the Taj.

In better times, stud, daily tournaments and the US Poker Championships were the best. Remember vividly the USPC in October of 2005. Men the Master, John Juanda, Ted Forrest, Mike Matusow and all the "names" of the day came to the Taj.

Good Luck to those playing to get that last BBJ.

Kevmath, if you have been following the plight of the Taj/Trump Entertainment, and the past promises by Robert Griffin, it will be interesting to see if this happens.

They had pared the room down to 48 tables. They had not had a major tournament series in years. The reputation of the room became suspect.

IF the Taj as a whole survives, maybe a 12 table room? Who cares? It will only be a token representation, an after thought, like the Golden Nugget. No wonder "The Donald" wants his name gone.

This month the corporate has been found guilty by the Fed for money laundering and Unite Here Local 54 has filed charges of unfair labor practices with the NLRB.

The question will be, how will Carl Icahn and his team run the company after the Bankruptcy is settled? A name change is in order. Supposedly the final plan is earmarked for the middle of March. All in all, an ugly situation.

BUT, they do have 51% off Room Rates.

The Taj doesn't need a poker room. Everyone left there to play at Borgata.
