Does anybody know more about this? Is it too early to make assumptions about them being excluded from the conventional poker platforms?

This part is good:

Can this be moved to NVG please so more people might see it?

EDIT: http://de.pokerstrategy.com/news/wor...sperren_83482/

More information in that link.

Cliffs:

- Only already established Swiss casinos may apply for a license
- Sites not within the country will be blocked by ISPs, "illegal" providers shall be prosecuted
- Winnings will be tax free
- Bill to come into effect in August of this year, changes expected until then

So terrible news basically. Look at the Swiss $/100 lost, seems to be the worst of all countries with any serious "volume".

It's out for consultation until August 2014.

I see, so it could still be months or even years before it is actually in effect?

Question. What happens to a player if he plays in an unlicensed poker site?

Threads don't go in NVG just so more people can see it, and Internet Poker does get a lot of views anyway. But in this case, this thread does seem a little better suited for NVG, so I'll move it over.

In future, I'd recommend using the Post Report feature that's found to the left of every post if you want to get a moderator's attention.

Don't these guys have a European Union for a reason?

Switzerland isn't part of the European Union...

Not looking good at all. Local newspaper says it'll be rather easy for regs to vpn their way trough it and it's more of a general approach to promote local casinos etc. than regulate the whole thing (if I understood correctly..), will still be illegal and pretty much impossible to get backing etc.

Already looking for options to get the swiss community moving and start a petition or w/e, really hope this doesn't get trough

Not only is Switzerland not in the European Union, but the "Common Market" which is one of the pillars of EU law has never been understood to apply to gambling. It falls under "morality" which the member states have always guarded their sovereignty over.

This is why France and Italy can make nationally-exclusive zones for poker, but not for selling widgets.

Lets hope things will sorted out in a good way, its rarely the case where the sh*% goes through without any rewriting and we have to do something.
Beauty of Switzerland is that law are mostly voted by the people and initiative can always be organized to add/change/remove laws so we def have to be part of the decision process to be able to find a good solution for everybody.

Problem is that we already voted for a change of the constitution in 2013 and it was accepted. I don't see how we can change things and I doubt an initiative would collect the nesseary signatures as not so many people care about that.
I really hope our system will be as slow as usuall so that we still have some month or maybe more...
In the meantime I don't know if it's safe to keep our money online...

Good news: Process in things like this is veeery slow in Switzerland so I don't think we have to worry about it until at least 2015, likely later.

Bad news: As Steve said, doubt that even if the whole community sticks together we would be able to get the 50k signatures for something like this, so if they decide to do it we don't really stand a chance to fight against it.

Steve, don't think we have to worry about our money being safe. After black friday every regulation went trough without any cashout issues or similar imo (Italy, France, Spain, Belgium...)?!

I hope you're right about our money. I will have a look on the Internet to see how it worked for other countries and post the results of my investigations later on.

Our politic heroes probably don't even know that u can play poker online. They'll just ban casino sites and sportsbetting.

I work at the Casino in Berne and I remember that they warned the employees from playing in online casinos a couple of months ago.. but they were only talking about slots, online BJ/Roulette and stuff not online poker.. let's hope they just shut down those ****ty online casino sites and just forget about Poker..

i just read the article sitting at the entrance of the casino... so **** mad right now.. like 50million profit isnt enough.. they shouldnt even care that much about online poker... Poker is a pretty much breakeven game in swiss casinos.. they make barely enough with rake to pay the dalers...

a little hope:
Der Entwurf ist nun in der sogenannten Vernehmlassung. Bis zum 20. August 2014 können Experten, politische Parteien, die Kantone, interessierte Kreise aber auch Einzelpersonen eine Stellungnahme zum Entwurf abgeben.

We need some ronaldgrauers and I'amsounds to make a statement

not too hard to get 50k signatures together for something like this if you have enough time and know how to do it imo.
totally agree with the good news part tho, reading the article I feel pretty indifferent about the whole thing; seems to me like the typical approach our country is so well known for, and given how slow & unstrict they were the past years, we might enjoy unregulated online poker for a long time here.

but obv observing the situation more closely now.

Tbh I think our only chance to change something in our favor (that is foreign poker sites and especially PokerStars will still be allowed to offer their service in Switzerland) during the consultation periode is via paid lobbying.
That's how politics work. Everybody is able to see all the allowed lobbyists in Berne via

http://www.parlament.ch/d/Seiten/default.aspx

and there you have to download these 2 lists

http://imgur.com/kibYgaK (I am unfortunately able to insert a pic directly here)

Right now I have no clue who would be the best choice to try to contact and try to get him to fight for us but I hope we can find one together.

That's the way the local casino lobby pushed for this current draft bill and we should try to beat them with their own very powerful wappon.

We should try to pool money for this and especially try to get the big names of Swiss poker behind this like Rony Kaiser, Ronald Grauer and others.

Oh and please post this on pokerstrategy.de in the respective thread, cause I am not able to post there and I am not willing to play poker on a other site than PS only to be able to post there or pay for it. And if there are other swiss poker forums please post it there too.

Gl us!

This sounds like it could be pretty serious. Has anybody in the swiss or german speaking community heared what Anton Allemann thinks about this? I´m pretty sure the highrollers like Alleman or Ronny Kaiser are up to date abou this
