Burn cards face up - how would it change hold-em Burn cards face up - how would it change hold-em

If the burn cards were face up......Would it help the better players, or reduce their edge?

Obviously having burn cards face up would seriously affect Hold'em. But when i tried to imagine just how, my braincell began to hurt very quickly. I'm ok, but would be interested if you think it would improve or hurt the game.

My view would be that it would increase the complexity and would therefore increase the better players edge.

My other view would be that, since more cards are exposed, it would cut down the range of hands that hero/villain can represent, making it easier for the 'less better' players to make good decisions more often, therefore reducing the better players edge.

it would slightly alter the odds of drawing hands and it would help good players to narrow their opponents' range, or at least weight it a little differently than they might otherwise have done. it is kinda interesting.

was this post serious?

it will make it more like PLO.

So it would be more skillful.

it would have the exact same effect as any other poker game where you started exposing random cards in the deck. which is the same effect that occurs when players accidentally expose their folded hands. you've seen that happen before right?

not really. if all the cards were face up, good players wouldnt have a bigger edge, although it is a lot new information

cool idea... and i think it would probably help good players because they are more capable of correctly applying this new information.

however, it would really screw with the odds and the calculations. i've spent years mastering holdem, and when you change little rules, it will mess up the internal calculations that i have to make. so i think initially, it might mess with my game a little bit, because i would have to relearn all the odds again. so i hope holdem never changes because i've already spent too long learning all the little intricacies of the game to the point where they are basically second nature now.

how would you have to relearn odds lol. its literally 100% the same "calculations"...why do ppl act like poker odds and figuring % requires some type of difficult mathematic equasions...

It would just change the odds. The better players would adjust and the casual donk wouldn't increasing the better players edge

such a minor change, its pretty much like having someone accidentally flipping their cards when folding every hand.
