i dont think you get that this is essentially a new company....amaya? track record doesnt really apply in this case. the only one that should apply is the old poker site amaya ran (and ran very poorly).

also, when your source of income is being messed with its only natural to react this way. its very reasonable. the idiots who keep pointing out that amaya is a business and can do whatever they want are ***** idiots. no **** sherlock! the point players are bringing up is this is bad for THEIR bottom line too!!

to suggest people lay down and not at least voice their concerns....now thats unreasonable.

How many of you whinners forget that Stars gave you your money that FTP ran away with? Now a few years later you guys are whining about Stars, despite them saving your ass, and being the best site online for 10 years.
FYP
This wasnt amaya it was the Scheinbergs so its not comparable

Strike will do nothing, Pokerstars will move along fine without all the butt-hurt "pros"
11-28-2015 , 01:59 PM
They money they will make from these abrupt changes will go directly to their new projects StarsDraft, Casnio, Sportbet, SpinnGO, things that have nothing to do with poker or little to do with poker.

It will send a clear message and i do not think it will go unnoticed, the players used to have a say in the direction stars is going now they have none.

It's a shame that half of this thread already is people spouting outrageous and/or ignorant claims/strawmen

Maybe take the time to read OP/OP's recent tweets/watch OP's video(s) w/ Joey and actually attempt to understand the reason(s) behind such a strike/what is hoped to be accomplished/the effect these changes are (likely) to have on poker/the poker economy as a whole before coming in here like derp Stars doesn't owe you anything nerds derp strike won't accomplish anything derp get a real job, morans derp derp derp

Tilting as **** to see important threads get clogged up w/ so much nonsense

Amaya is not a new operator in this area and is also not a small company for the online gambling business sector. I would expect that they have made these changes in line with a larger business plan for their entire business and would have understood the impact of these actions.

Their business plan does not need to be aligned to what is good for the pros who make a living through their site be it as a genuine winning player or someone who is a rake back pro. Their business plan will be about moving the company in the direction they want it to go, and apparently this direction does not include rewarding players who make a living out of playing on Stars.

It will be interesting to see their reaction to the strike, and th actual impact of it, but I would be very surprised if it changes anything.

I know that social pressure can make a difference, even more so today when there are so many outlets for people but people striking because a game they play for money is not giving them want they wan anymore is not going to gather support outside of what is in real terms a very small number.
Ongame tho

I think these guys are pretty funny. All this anger about a protest while being completely uninvolved. I am 100% sure most of these guys aren't even actively playing at stars anymore, just letting steam off, because they had to face the fact that they can't win at stars.
Don't respond to their crap. It's just not worth the time. For sure do longtime customers have the right to express their discontent.

Not sure I understand your point.

If you are using ongame to show Amaya makes bad decisions that screw up their businesses , you might want to look at what they bought and sold it for, so not the best example.

As in poker, money is how business people keep score.

Just GTFO, nobody will miss you. I feel bad for you guys. I mean, you´re smart enough to be able to exploit victims for every penny they have, and still you´re too stupid to realize when you´re drawing super slim. Your so called profession is dead. The sooner you realize it, the better for you. Stop acting like little babies. Move on. Game over.

should get ansky back on joey's podcast to highlight the main objectives of the strike and to try and entice people to join in.

not read the entirety of this thread so this may have been suggested.

this is so stupid and pointless. if you're pissed off about the fall of stars just stop giving them your business. the fact that you're only willing to "strike" for 3 days proves to stars what they already believed: that no matter how much they disappoint their customers the customers still won't be able to stay away. go ahead and take your 3 days off, feel like a hero, and come back on day 4 having accomplished nothing. good luck with that.

I wouldn't count on it having much effect either, but the vitriol seems really over the top, as it usually does.

I think Ansky did really well to cover all reasons why we are unhappy with current situation. Our objective is to have our united voice heard. It is our reaction to theft that occurred and protest against overall changes they made. We are hoping to bring them more in touch with us, players that rake the most money for them, and hopefully have them reconsider what they have done. If we fail to provoke any reaction this time, we will continue i hope with a more lengthy and bigger numbers strike in January.

do you even know what a strike is

What decrease in volume is large enough to make players think they have a voice worth listening to? What decrease in volume is small enough that players should feel like powerless eunuchs?

i'd say about 15% for cash games is critical mass, maybe 10%. This is achievable imo. Tourneys are more difficult but if we can get 5% decrease in tourneys its very good.
I may be way off with my estimate though..?

Yes. I also know what an exercise in futility is. Telling Stars, "Hey guys, we're going to get (maybe) 100(!) dudes to not play on your site this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday so that you know how unhappy we are! Don't worry we'll be back for the weekend!" is as pointless as it gets. If you're unhappy with the site stop playing there. I mean the idea is so pointless that it's almost laughable to me that some of you are so strongly supporting it. A bunch of regs threatening to not play on Stars for a random Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday isn't going to change the world...sorry fellas.

With all due respect, I think you are.

3 days is a halfway effort. our leader daniel negreanu, who has utmost integrity, would not stand for such a thing - it's like going vegetarian instead of vegan

do it for a month and you have a shot. do it for 3 days and you're drawing dead.

so do you need further explanation or can you figure it out on your own?
