Re: A STATEMENT FROM ELI ELEZRA

"i dont hide from my debts"

remember a few days ago when cts showed you ghosting him?

The charade is over man. You thought you could get away with it 'because it's private'. Cmon. It's a 10 year old 5 figure debt and you haven't be communicating.

And insult to injury publicly you insist on paying all your debts. No.

Re: A STATEMENT FROM ELI ELEZRA

What a fail. The right thing to do with a new thread would've been to say you've paid Cole and that you were wrong and are sorry.

I loaned bec these ppl became 'poker friends' and it wasn't for huge amounts but not getting paid back is a miserable feeling so for those who are just starting out I've got a bit of simple advice re lending to poker players: Don't do it.

Why don't you simply say sorry and pay him back? I mean it's like someone rents my house doesn't pay the rent for half a year and then asks me to call him back because I might like what he has to say.

It's almost like Cole has to beg you to get paid. YOU owe him the money, you are supposed to be the one reaching out to him/his friends or simply transferring the money to his Stars account.

You should be ashamed but instead you act like you are the one doing something great.

Continuing to participate on 2+2 does not seem to include Eli answering any tough questions but does seem to indicate that he will throw the ball back into Cole's court as necessary to maintain the illusion that he is doing nothing wrong.

Re: A STATEMENT FROM ELI ELEZRA

I do appreciate Eli reaching out to me today and taking ownership of the situation. We cleared the air over a phone call and while I haven’t received any payments yet, I’m hopeful we’re heading in the right direction. I will gladly post an update if/when this is resolved, and look forward to putting this behind both of us.

What caused issue with me was his answers in the AMA, I haven't read Eli's book. If you’ve left a negative Amazon review on the book due to reading these threads, please do me a favor and remove it so we can keep the discussion here. Thanks all.

Well, the good book from the land of Israel does say at the end of 7 years you must cancel debts.

Re: A STATEMENT FROM ELI ELEZRA

I could never imagine borrowing money from someone with the expectation that I don’t need to pay them back unless explicitly agreed upon by both parties. Absurd logic and you really ought to be ashamed of yourself. You’re a grown man for **** sake. Act like one

Re: A STATEMENT FROM ELI ELEZRA

Seem to be two general trains of thoughts here in the "judgement" of Eli and his life (god I felt self-righteous even writing that). But NVG gonna NVG.

Thought Train #1
Eli didnt pay back debts. in the poker world not paying debts is a cardinal sin. He committed a cardinal sin and deserves the full wrath of the poker community.

That checks out for me and makes sense.

Thought Train #2
Eli didnt pay back debts. The entirety of his life (inside and outside of poker) should be judged through that lens and nothing else.

This does not check out for me and comes across as self-righteous coming from anyone except a perfect human being.

It would be super helpful if a few perfect human beings could weigh in here .

Good luck, Cole, and I hope you get paid.

Unfortunately, there is a very similar situation playing out in the NYPokerKing thread.

The scammer reaches out to the victim on a private phone call, acts very nice and agreeable, and promises payments in pieces.

The first small payment comes, and then the rest never do.

I've seen this occur countless times. It's directly from the Scammer/Deadbeat 101 Playbook. Claim you're going to make good when the heat turns up, make one small good faith payment, perhaps make a second payment, and then vanish.

My guess is that he's trying to scrounge up money to pay you for appearance sake, but if it was that easy, he would have done it weeks ago.

Pretty sure you're going to get one payment soon, and maybe a second one, and then the excuses/ghosting will start again.

On a side note, I had a dream last night about calling and talking to Eli about this situation, so perhaps I should start spending less time in this thread.

Re: A STATEMENT FROM ELI ELEZRA

Since 48 hours haven't passed, and since Dream Eli didn't sufficiently answer everything for me, here are my questions for him:

1) When you borrowed money in the past, did you already have debts to other poker players which hadn't been paid back for over a year? If so, did you disclose this to the people you borrowed from?

2) When people like Cole loaned you money, do you think they believed they would be paid back, or were they "fully aware they may never be paid back"?

3) Did you admit to people you borrowed from that you were struggling financially and needed the loans for that reason? If not, do you think those people had the mistaken impression that you were still a successful businessman?

Why do you not publicly out people who owe you large amounts of money? It might prevent someone else from lending money to those individuals...

There are three poker players i would loan money to, period. I know exactly where their outside income comes from, and how reliable they are in general.

One of them loaned me a dollar last week when the server handed me a coke, and the dealer was too busy calculating pot to make change for a green chip. It just dawned on me I owe that guy $1.

This to me is the nexus of most poker and money issues in the community. There were days when these guys thought money grew on trees, when in fact it was our money, and when the spigot shut off, but the habits never changed.

He only apologized to Cole to buy more time. Underneath it all he felt he didn't owe him the money that he bought more time for to not pay him back......cause it was a misunderstanding.......okay........yea...
