with how disingenuous and money grabbing every single amaya update has been since launch (including multiple times making every effort to hide rake increases / making it hard for recs or clueless people to find rake in beat the clock etc) I don't see how we can have any optimism for this update.


It's great if you as a 'poker reg' enjoy slot machine style mechanics , with poor payouts (guaranteed just like every single other box system in any game out there currently). Instead of getting , say $10 every milestone, You get forced to buy a lotto ticket / slot machine spin / however you look at opening a chest to get probably something like $5 ev avg or less (if going based on game payouts it would be something like $1.75 ev) with your small chance of winning the lottery for a million $$$.

This is keeping in mind that that $10 milestone reward is already something you get after making ~$40-$50 for pokerstars, so now just to try to get anything back you have to spin this wheel and hope you get not complete trash.. So make $50 for pokerstars, get $5 back on average. Sounds like a GREAT fulfilling experience.

Much more open if they added chests as a VIP store choice , have 1k stars coins = $10 OR a chest open for those slot machine loving 'regs' as you put it , since apparently all of us poker regs just LOVE a gambol that's why we play a long term +ev game and put effort into our game to make sure we are profitable...

i think i want to give this a chance. obviously, this is horrible for regulars, but i can see how this is appealing to funplayers and i truely hope is attracts new players and keeps them around
at the end, the problem is always the same, none of us, or at least the majority of regs is not going to stop playing on stars because there aren't any real alternatives (yet). stars cuts 85% of vip rewards and still, all we can do is complain and whine about it.

LOL at this point 2011 was a godsend dealing with this ****. I'm glad my memory of Stars was of the greatest online poker site ever and not the inbred version of it you guys have now.

Silly games, but am seeming to play them more than poker these days Guess they're quite a bit less pressure than poker, when there's no chance of losing any money?

With poker, back when the games were still fun it used to seem like only other players were trying to take my money as part of the game - but now, it feels a lot of the time like Stars is aggressively trying to take my money as well? And they're a big corporation, and with the lack of transparency (like with not disclosing odds) ... guess it can just kind of wind up seeming like more fun to just stick to playing with e-candies?


Guess am still playing the occasional tourney, and sometimes play on Party and 888 as well - but guess am not playing nearly as much as last year ...

i dunno why everybody on 2p2 roleplay as a top grinder. very few will lose 85% of their rb on stars and get 40% rb on party. those 2 scenario will only affect <1% of the population. the reality is most people will get 20% on party and get roughly the same they had on stars

Looking at the previous posts, not sure if you had posts like mine in mind? But it seems like maybe people believe Stars is making a change they hope will entice recreationals to want to play more, that is at the same time going to cut back on benefits for some. So some of us are responding the first idea of whether chests makes any of us want to play more than we already are?

Am not playing so much this year because they've been cutting back promo $, which is maybe the main way for a lot of recreationals to get 'rakeback'? So while keeping rakeback the same while cutting promo $ might keep things the same, maybe it might not tend to compel too many people want to play any more than we are now?

85% less than the current top-tier means 4-5% rakeback. A current BronzeStar gets 8-9% according to Stars' chart, so everybody loses (assuming we will all get the same value in the chests) except Amaya. Obv some lose less, others more.

i think what will happen is stars will do like 888

the number of chest will be capped somehow. and when they say -85%, I assume they think grinder will keep playing at 0% rb when all the daily chests are open

Are you Pocketducks? Cause you sound like PD. Yes we can "wait and see" but as some poster have already alluded there is transparency happening this time and they aren't hiding the massive cuts! So yes, a small % of players will get huge cuts but that doesn't change the fact that unless a ton of new players come in, or new money comes from somewhere the liquidity overall is gonna get smushed outright. Liquidity has been hemorrhaging slowly in all SNG game types last few years(not sure about cash, and mtts obv okay still) and will continue to do so. Takeaway the biggest tier of grinders and lets see what runs afterwards. Its hard to be optimistic when amayastars is making a "change" because generally that change screws over everybody involved, yes I said everybody not just high tier grinders. Honestly, I am not even upset or anything it just sucks to see one of the best sites go from best to whatever this is in a matter of 3 years. However, would love if I was massively wrong but highly I am in this spot

Untill we know the numbers we can't really speculate, it is likely worse but sometimes casino rewards are actually +ev if you know the correct games to play.. im sure theyve thought of this but still the fact their are random prizes doesnt really matter its just like spin&rakeback lol

A lot of games are basicly slot machines. Slot machines are (fun?) and addictive. Seems like this chest will pay out similar to a slot. Feels likely rewards are greatly reduced and possibly pretty opaque. Hopefully they make it clear what tier of rewards you can get and what the slot/chest payout numbers are. If not...well...i guess people will play there anyways.

Ive said it before, Pokerstars doesn't care about regs. She left you, she's banging someone else now, time to move on. Stop standing outside the house and go home. Its sad really. The fact that you're all still emotionally struggling to accept the situation just shows you would be crap at business.

It obviously sucks for regs that our rakeback is being massively cut, but that aside, this Chest system is probably awesome for recs who are on the site to have fun and gamble a bit. They don't have a clue what % of rb they get in the first place, so won't notice if they get more or less than before, but it's more exciting than cashing in for a 10 sng ticket once every week or so.

I'm all for anything that makes the experience for the recs more fun. It's just a shame it's being bundled in with the huge cuts.
