You mean can they get 'rb'? If so then the answer is still no.

There are several differences between VIP Steps and the new Stars Rewards program.

A player's progression in VIP Steps was based on their monthly play, where they collected VPPs to complete Steps and earned rewards based on their VIP Status. Progress for each player was then reset at the end of each month.

The new Stars Rewards program offers a rich, dynamic experience and rewards players on a more regular basis. Players no longer have a VIP Status and instead earn reward points to complete a progress bar. Every time a progress bar is completed, players receive a Chest. Each Chest can be opened to receive personalized random rewards and potentially win a huge top prize.

Reward points are granted when you play real money on our platforms, as per below:

- Poker
Players earn 100 rewards points for every $1 (or equivalent) in rake or tournament fees paid. Players do not earn reward points at pot-limit and no-limit tables with blinds of $5/$10 or higher, 8-game tables with stakes of $20-$40 or higher, or other limit games with stakes of $20-$40 or higher.

- Casino
Reward points are earned at the point of wagering.

- Sports
Reward points are earned when a bet is placed. For multiple/accumulator bets, players earn 5.5 reward points for every $1 wagered. For singles bets, players earn 2 reward points for every $1 wagered, but will earn increasingly more points as the wagering odds increase, on a sliding scale multiplie.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

Pokerstars went for an entertaining/interesting route that doesnt reward much
Party went for fairly good rewards but it's the most boring vip program on earth

gonna be interesting to see who will come on top

Re: Stars confirms new rewards program: Chests

I just don't see any way in which this is not going to be another big cut to rakeback % for players on stars (maybe even a complete bombshell and have everyone on like a bronze vip level tier) since 1) if they do not release the odds it could be whatever they want it to be, and

2) every big e-sports game that has this crate/box system has already proven that having dirt low odds for a return on investment is okay for their audiences as they are all raking in millions and millions off box sales, so it isn't surprising amaya has dollar signs in their eyes looking at gaming companies and assuming if they force poker players on their site to gamble all of their rakeback on random prizes then market the **** out of the 1/million box open winner of 1 million stars coins that people will forget before instead of getting this 85% chance to get $2 per $10 rakeback we had a 100% chance of getting ~$3-5 or more on the $10 raked without having to spin a slot machine at all.

I think honestly we are coming up on what will finally break stars if this chest system ends up having a terrible launch whilst partypoker has their 40% rakeback (and hopefully increased ads to get the msg out to recs)

If their "personable / adjusted" prizes from chests ends up not being implemented (mtt players getting T$ / cash players getting stars coins etc) and they end up giving cash grinders free slot spins it will be such a joke. Maybe a long shot amaya bankrupts, stars closes , partypoker buys the software?? one can dream ?

The last time a poker site tried to attract players with chests which may or may not contain what one hopes for: https://uk.pokernews.com/news/2008/0...la-tequila.htm

Sometimes will play Not because of the chests, but maybe because it's easy to solve the puzzles and it's free?

Sometimes still play poker, but mostly seem to just rail these days - would maybe play more if the promos were better?

Re: Stars confirms new rewards program: Chests

Much of the success will depend on how they construct the pay out tables. Hopefully there will be a fair chance to win more than what one would have recieved in the old system and a long shot at an exciting first prize.

Stars should have the data from all their challenges with random rewards to not screw this one up.

Re: Stars confirms new rewards program: Chests

Seems fine, more in line with the 2017 casual gaming experience than straight VIP points or even rakeback.

No reason to be negative about it from a cost standpoint until you find out about the prize rates and if this is being paid for with a rake increase.

If prize rates are reasonable variance for a professional and rake isn't being increased, then I don't see why this should be viewed negatively unless you just feel chests are a poor form of rewarding players.

Re: Stars confirms new rewards program: Chests

Although these changes might hurt us regs in the long run with reduced rewards, I genuinely love this idea. I play a fair amount of clash royale and the chest system is exciting every time you open one because of the rare chance you might hit a huge prize. This plays directly into our persona as people who love a bit of a gamble in life.

It's the perfect system for a poker site. I know I will enjoy and be excited about opening each and every chest. Well done stars! (Didn't think I'd be saying that til the scheinberg's came back but there you go)

Agreed. And if the mean value of the rakeback for most player types stay about the same I'd go as far as saying I think it's a great system. If you're not touching my mean and I will approach it at a reasonable degree of confidence I'm all for throwing $1k boosts around the player pool. It's clearly beneficial for the games.

But yes - if it would be confirmed that they indeed lower the mean of the rakeback to any significant extent I will be as upset as the rest of you.

If they have already been warning that some players will receive up to 85% rakeback reductions then what do you think your "mean value of the rakeback" is going to be?

Re: Stars confirms new rewards program: Chests

Everything depends on the implementation, the system in itsself could be fine if:

1/ It is an extra way of getting your RB, and you can still just buy cash bonuses etc
2/ Stars is clear enough about the probabilities so that players can kind of understand how it works and whether or not they gain money. I think them giving exact probabilities is highly unlikely.

If you HAVE to use the system, obviously bad for regs who will now have an extra form of major variance to take into account (I expect pay outs to be very top-heavy like spin & gos). Also sounds like hell for any kind of staking deal to take this **** into account.

If it is implemented well this is good imo, everything to attract players from eSports. Should be the best place to effectively invest marketing dollars.

I got that email and it was very vague. It's still worrying but I'm awaiting numbers.

It replaces the old, it's not stacked on top. You can still buy bonuses but your stars coins will come from chests.

There is no reason to believe we won't get to see the probabilities. And once we do we will can draw a bell curve for the varying chest sizes and have a look at the mean and standard deviation. Variance could be very modest or quite significant, we just don't know at this point.

And again, I'm only saying this system could be done very well and it would be very easy to make it superior for the ecology (compared to the current model) without hurting the regs much. But we could also get screwed royally. Let's just wait and see.
