Is this typical of free money games or is the world really just this bad at poker?
Yep, infamous of the common donkey strategy. I know I hate it myself... but what can you do when its a free program offering money! Everyone including the fish wanna get in

When you get to that folder, there is a file called; hosts

You use something like Wordpad to edit this file and enter what I posted above,

127.0.0.1 ads.nlop.com

then save the file. You are done.

What this does is everytime the Zen software trys to display an ad by going to the Internet and grabbing the ad, your Hosts file says that Ads @ Nlop are to be gotten from 127.0.0.1; which is your machine. Since your machine does not have the ad, it shows as not found. So there is no slowdown of your machine going to the Internet every 5 seconds for a new ad.
Very interesting!

Gotta love IT Wizards, thanks!

Plenty of donkeys roaming the grounds so I suppose thats a good thing if you're a semi tight player. It's fun seeing the first casino taking a stab at online poker... it should fuel the rest to do so also!

My Screen Name: Odds_Master1

I got close to the seat. Got 50th out of 1159 players.

It's not bad for free stuff. Can't really complain...

Good to hear mate!

I placed 225th out of 1650 entrants yesterday. Yeah, its not bad for being new. IF only more sites could follow PokerStars format... they're genius's over there! That's the ideal poker platform

You guys know that if you end up winning the main event tournament that you still have to play a live 9 handed sng at southpoint to win the seat right? So if you live far from southpoint it might not be even worth it to play those tournaments.

they give you free air fare and hotel too I think.

plus,

1) its basically a free 1k buyin at a tournament.
2) you dont have to give your name or information, so if for some reason you cant make it, you could probably find someone to buy it off you.

I signed up for the same reason, a chance for the 10k seat. And yes, you do have to fight 1500+ other players and there are donkey land mines galore. Tonight I went out with A/Q versus someone going all in with 6/8 and 2 others callers. What happens in these things is that it is bet with 5 players calling, then when you raise over pot with a hand to thin the herd, the herd follows instead, you get a caller or 2; and then someone goes all in. By the time it gets back to you (original raiser), there is so much into the pot, that you have to call the final few hundred to make 3k-4k chips.

But over the past week since they started this tourney, I have finished in top 50 to 75 about half the time; the other half of the time I usually am out within the first 20 minutes. :-)

Edited a few minutes later; Yes, I do know if you win a seat, that it is to the 9-player final table live in Vegas. What is interesting was it was supposed to be originally 7 days of tournaments, once a day and 2 on Saturday and Sunday. This would give a final table playoff of 9 players. However, if you noticed that there are still tourneys nightly and 2 on Saturday at this point. I also noticed that the 'ad' is showing that you can win a seat every week, so it looks like it is going to be an ongoing thing.

It actually may be required for you enter your personal information to collect the seat. At NLOP, you needed the information in the system so they can send you checks and prizes you win. I have already entered my information into South Point so I can win prizes should I choose to play some other tourney in the future too.

You can (at least with NLOP's site for which this is a clone) run 4 windows. 2 of each kind, SNG and Tourney. There is a 2 game max for any type, but you can at least get 4 windows if you are just playing on a laptop while watching TV.

I just noticed when I opened the app this morning that my points were diminished to 1500 player points when I swore when I closed the app yesterday I had 3500 pts. This is very bizarre... anybody else experience this? I'm about to consult the technical team. But I'm upset because they still have not respond to 2 of my emails I sent over 2 days ago. A few other poker sites I'm on I get contacted about 30 hrs later. So far this team seems very disparaging!

If I open an account now will I not be able to tag myself to an affiliate offer rakeback or rake races and other promos when they eventually become a real money site post-regulation?

yeah apparently they take away all points once a week (not sure the day) and bring you back to the 1500-I asked this previously in this thread and someone told me this-something about making it fair for the weekly leaderboard.

Thanks!

But what leaderboard are you referring to? Is this viewable to the clients? And thats a good question would the rackback be accessible in the near future when this becomes a sole cash money poker platform?

Anybody else have any good luck with winning any prizes or cash? If so, how was the process did they send you a check, bankwire etc. How long did it take to receive?

To say the SP/Zen software isn't ready for prime time is putting it mildly.
Yet to see any substantial malfunctions on the software parts. Although, there are some minor glitches that take away from the quality of the game. But that is most certainly understandable from a new softwares point of view.

Question: Does anybody know what LTP & LTVP stand for in the players stats?

And yes, I'm aware that you must play a 9plyr live SNG... luckily I reside in Los Angeles a few hrs from the casino.

Bleh.

This website is very fishy! I already received 4 bad beats in the last 3 days. It always seems like the chip leader gets the pot.

For instance, I had a/9 suited and mid raise it to 350. 3 others fold in front of me.. and 1 player goes all in. I decide well I invested 40% of my remaining stack might as well. So I push it all in. The flop comes 5,3,10 and 2 other cards mean ****. He wins the pot and I'm eliminated with 45 left out of the 565 player field.

Has anybody seen a trend in these bad beat situations?

With NLOP (ZEN software) they would send checks and prizes once a month; so I expect the same will happen with Southpoint. It is funny as I remember when ZEN/NLOP was first coming out, I had received a check for $3 one time. I have also received t-shirt and other checks over the past couple of years.

Points are reset every Sunday, so the weekly leaderboard will reset and we all start fresh.

There is a LEADERBOARD which shows the full leaderboard for all sites under the ZEN lable. Then you have a 'affiliate' type of leaderboard that you can see how you fair in that list. In this case, you will be affiliated with South Point so your leaderboard should say SouthPoint next to the official all encompassing leaderboard for the week.

LTP is your LifeTimePoints. LTVP is your LifeTimeVIDEOPOKER Points.

Hope that helps to answer some of the questions folks had.

I hate to be *that guy* who says the software is rigged, because lol sample size and all that...

but does anyone else feel like the cards play out strangely on the site? Not rigged, but just bad RNGs? I feel like I have seen an awful lot of quads hit the board. as in the board is 9999K or something.

I have seen crazy stuff..quad AA 3x within 10 minutes of each other-all of them with only 2 on the board

I played in a 6 table player tournament which had 375 Entrants yesterday. I finished 2nd... It was a hell of a good run!

I received this email from South Point Yesterday:

"Dear Odds_Master1,You won an invitation to play in the "$1,000 Oct 30th Weekly Championship" tournament which is scheduled to start 10/30/2011 07:30:00 PM, EDT."

However, I try to register and it says I'm not on the invitation list. Sort of upset about this so I emailed them. But, they've yet to respond to 2 of my emails I sent over 3 days ago.

Plus, I had 24,000 Player Points yesterday and now they're gone. WTF is up with that? I heard they change them every week but it hasn't been a week and it seems everytime I log out the points are reset!

Thanks for the insight!

But I'm still puzzled. Yesterday night I won nearly 20K in leader points and now I only have 1700K... I'm looking on the points leader board and I don't even see those points registered. I would really like to hear back from them. How long does it take to receive an email? From other well known poker sites I would receive something along the lines of 1-2 days.

Your help is deeply appreciated

I have seen numerous of flops paired:

Such as: 9,9,k, 4,2,4 etc.

Seems like too many paired for full house probability. I will also bring this up to South Point. The more we let them know of certain glitches and short sighted issues, we can possibly help them build a better platform in the future!

These are the numerous emails I have sent South Point and yet to no avail a response:

Dated: Thursday

"Good Afternoon South Point Hotel,

I'm very privileged to be one of your new clients who downloaded your new poker software. Thus far the software seems pretty solid besides a few glitches when you try to keep your scoreboard window open it reappears in your main gaming window every now and then. Its nice that your offering a free computer platform which differentiates from that over at Club WPT, which you have to pay a monthly 20USD fee. The only downside is the excessive advertising displayed on the side panels... but I guess you must advertise to gain new sponsors and to pay for the upkeep of the website. To finish, the only thing that may need some routine fixing is the speed of the tables such as when raising and folding. However, I do know this software is in its beta stages so I do hope some of the kinks are repaired in a timely manner.

I had a few questions about your 10,000 seat qualifer. If you rank 1st place do I automically win the 10,000 seat...and if so is there any other perks to go along with the winning seat? I'm very excited to take part in this Free Roll and it was kind of a struggle to get this application as I run on a Macintosh Operating System but I converted to Windows XP to check out all the hype! Also, if you win cash prizes how are the prizes handed out; via check etc.?"

Today: 9:54AM

"Dear South Point,

This email is EXTREMELY important. As you know I received an invitation for the 1,000 Championship today but when I go into the tournament section and try to register it says I'm "not on the invitation list"... how can that be? If I received this email I should be registered. Do I have to take any other steps to activate the list? My login email address is xxxxxxxxxx.com Can you please fix the problem fast so I can enter for 4:30. Thank you very much...."

Good Afternoon South Point,

"I've sent you numerous emails regarding a few things and have yet to receive a response. On your website you have about 4 email addresses for various things but yet to receive a response. I won an invitation to a your 1000 Champion Tourney today but it says I'm not on the invitation list. I would really like to get a response. If so, I'll be looking to join a different poker home as the technical support is less than satisfactory. I took so many measures to join your platform as I operate on a MAC OS and actually purchased a Windows XP version to play... and it seems like it was a mistake as I'm not receiving proper technical support. Please, can you get back to me!"

I also posted on there Twitter and FB accounts. Lets see if I get a reaction!

One other thing you might want to remember... it looks like the points reset at months end, which makes sense. if that happens to occur on a Tuesday, that's when the points will reset.

We'll Blue Comet told me they reset every Sunday... which makes no sense at all. A month is a much more considerable time to build a bankroll. Well, I think I gave them 2 emails. The one I registered with is a different email in which they sent me the invitation on... so that might be the problem.

On a good note, I finished 15th place out of a 1335 player field for the 10K World Series of Poker Seat. So close! I say in a month I'll be a WSOP nominee
