I’m sure we all know the beautiful and talented player Liv Boeree.
I’ve just learned of another poker player who happened to recently win an online bracelet event, but whose main claim to fame is his very peculiar name: Gaby Livshitz.
Immediately I thought of the disastrous outcome for Liv if the universe was to ever bring them together.
Scenario 1: At the office
A phone call to Liv’s workplace. Receptionist answers.
Potential Client: Hello, may I please speak to Liv?
Receptionist: Livshitz?
Potential Client: (Long pause) That’s a bit too personal, don’t you think?
Receptionist: I said Livshitz!
Potential Client: You know, I was looking for something a bit more professional! (hangs up the phone.)
Scenario 2: At home
A phone call from the maintenance guy to the apartment manager.
Maintenance: Hey, someone left me a message asking to stop by because her toilet is clogged, but she didn’t say which apartment number. Can you help me find it? Her name is Liv.
Manager: Livshitz?
Maintenance: So it’s working now?
Manager: I said Livshitz!
Maintenance: Fine, I’ll cancel the request then. (hangs up the phone)
Scenario 3: At the hospital
A phone call to the ward for patients suffering from extreme constipation.
Caller: Hi, how's Liv doing?
Nurse: Livshitz?
Caller: Thank God! So she's much better now?
Nurse: I said Livshitz!
Caller: That is such great news! Thank you! (hangs up the phone)
I'm the comedic genius behind the "Some poker players shouldn't marry each other" thread, which got closed. Even though I still think this stuff was hilarious, I don't think it's good comedy if it makes somebody else cry.
I have nothing against either player mentioned and it was definitely not a dig at Liv, whom I adore. I hope that everyone sees it for what it was- an attempt at humor without any malicious intent. Hopefully all the parties involved can forgive me.
