If you have a skype call or IM you do no expose your IP address. Please quit giving out false information and making people scacred to use things like Skype. All communication during a Skype call is between you and a Skype server your IP information is only revealed to the server or conference bridge that your connected too, NOT to the person you are connected to.

Its pretty obvious you dont know what youre talking about when it comes to personal video conferencing so please just stop trying.
That maybe true in theory for a simple attack level. But you do open a pathway that an attacker could use to plant a worm and then see your screen and hence your hole cards.
I work in computer security and IMO when playing poker you should have all unnecessary IPs (inbound and outbound) fire-walled preferably on your router, and an up to date anti-virus.

Oh and having your poker screen name the same as your skype/chat name means your friends, colleagues, and family can look you up on PTR.

This is not true at all. I have had two pokerstars employees ask me for my username and password whilst i have been playing live with them at my local casino.

I'm thinking what $x I would pay to observe people that have fallen for this in everyday life. It's probably >$1000, would make a great reality show

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM LETS SEE...........

(1) If you have a skype call or IM you do no expose your IP address. WRONG!!!
(2) All communication during a Skype call is between you and a Skype server your IP information is only revealed to the server or conference bridge that your connected too
WRONG!!!!!

I work in security/digital forensics and without going into too much detail with the correct tools/software and knowledge then YES someone can get your IP address from skype and other IM sites. Heck most people don't realise that their IP address is contained in the headers of e-mails! If you get ANYTHING like the OPs caller wether on skype msn or an email from someone u have never heard of then please do not even open it just block user and mark as spam.

OH AND TEETDOGS...............

+1 on this, you can (could?) get the IP from these IM's by simply typing in a command in cmdprompt (windows) and see which IP's your PC is connecting with.
