Sit Out PokerStarts Sunday

As a way to voice our griefs and concerns ! i would like to encourage players to sit out this Sunday and show them that we as players have a voice and we are the power --not them.

Even if there were a chance, OP made an awfully unconvincing effort.

It worked on pokerstars.fr but it was very well organized although much easier to do as it was on a smaller scale than ps.com.
This Sunday is definitely too soon to organize something that would actually have an impact but it can be done if enough people join in.

I think it can be an interesting thing to do as basically most of the players that play regularly on Sunday will be Goldstar+ and then impacted in some way by the changes - and they would probably just ignore it or consider the Pokerstars explanation as reasonable if nothing is done.

This. However in the 2016 supernova elite thread in IP one cat (a RUSSIAN cat) made some interesting points and is perhaps more convincing. I like the gradual by period idea.

Quote:
Hi everybody!

Greetings from Russian poker community!

I have some thoughts about what we can do together if rake is increased as promised.
There is an idea to make a strike, meaning none who joins the strike play in the room for some days. Some people suggest making massive 1-month strike starting from January 1st.

I understand the idea behind 1-month long strike, which is to suffer once, win, and continue playing as before. But letís consider the outcome. If we go with one-time big strike 1 month, long the room will lose money once and after that will recover in several months and proceed with increased profit which is because ours is decreased. Making another 1-month long strike if there is no result after the first will be extremely difficult. I would not be happy if after 1 month the mood is over and it is impossible to bring players together for resistance anymore.

I donít think this is best approach to do this. One time strike does not result in many changes usually in real life. At least probability of this is small from my point of view. Another point is that it is much more difficult to bring people together for such long action. That is why we should consider rather long battle.

To start with 1-week long strike would be enough, if nothing changes (which is likely) we should repeat it within month and so on. I have no calculations how big loss this would cause and how many times we have to repeat this to roll back the decision of increasing the rake.

That is why I think making good cooperation between different communities and firing regular 1-week strikes each month is a better approach.

There is only one way to win Ė fight, regularly, bringing more and more people, explaining why we do this, and popularizing strikes and other aspects of the fight as listed before like making video content, posts in social media e t.c. However, remember media has no much power if there is no real action following it.

Thank you!

Wouldn't it make more sense for the high stakes player to sit out the 1k on Tuesday? But it will never happen. All independent contractors.

Honestly they probably could. Stars WOULD notice it. And it would ultimately make no difference. Not JUST the 1 k tue and perhaps no sit out of any kind would...But if well coordinated prob worth trying on a larger scale.

reg players should create a syndicate. if this syndicate have 35 000 members, you can negociate something good with a room.

Re: Sit Out PokerStarts Sunday

Regs not playing means the greatest skill gaps are removed from the game. Fish vs fish battles, even though they may have slight edges, greatly reduces the amount of money that flows to one person. It's not like a pro vs a fish HU who is taking him for 30bb/100. When the skill gap becomes temporarily smaller, more rake is being paid for the same amount of money to be won by the best players who are then playing.

To cost PS money you'd need to create the biggest skill gaps and stop playing anyone else. Extreme bumhunting. That way regs can get the money via the cheapest route and PS has less opportunity to rake. Of course this is already being done and I don't like it but it is the most effective way to actually put a hurt on PS for these changes.

Funnily enough this reaction is exactly what PS is saying they want to prevent. They want to make poker more fun (yea rite) and give a better experience for recs. Imagine what recs are going to experience when everyone is just sitting out until they can get a 10bb/100 winrate on someone. Every rec is just going to get gangraped within minutes.

Re: Sit Out PokerStarts Sunday

I think this is a good idea but also if every regular withdrew a % of his roll it might also make stars take note

For example if every single reg processed a withdrawal for 10% of their roll, it could quite easily roll into the millions just from 2p2

Re: Sit Out PokerStarts Sunday

Incredibly inspiring OP. Got me fired up to fight the man.

But in all seriousness, this is a terrible idea that will only hurt you with a possible infraction on the site and lost opportunities to earn.

The only true action anyone can take to get Pokerstars to reverse their decision is to stop playing on Pokerstars altogether. However, I don't believe this will even be of any measurable significance to them. You have to realize that they were completely aware that there would be this backlash. They are aware that they may lose some customers, but they have projected that these changes will increase their profits.

You also can not set a "strike period" as many have suggested. Pokerstars will be happy to wait you out if you announce the end date of a strike. It will take a very large concerted and lengthy boycott to actually get Pokerstars to bat an eye, and I don't for a second believe the online community is capable of organizing themselves in such a way and collectively committing to and honoring such a boycott.

They got you by the balls folks...They know that even with the new changes, the vast majority of you will still play on Pokerstars (if you already do).
