If you really want to play the devils advocate you should stick with the whole "maybe he was so drunk he hallucinated a conversation with his friend where they gave him permission".

I am not trying to create sympathy for him or to excuse what he did, but I was trying to work out why he did it, and it is plausible that the factors I mentioned came together in a perfect storm and he lost his moral compass in that moment.

Funny how he steals from my pal and there's numerous statements saying we are to blame and we are grasses etc. The group are all working class lads who will have it out with you with fists in a heartbeat if you steal. The staff overheard the argument and you have to understand most staff HATE kassouf so they were quick to **** him. The lad it happened to told the staff to drop it but they went ahead with it. I told my mate to tell them to drop it, even make up some story that it was a mistake, and he rightly said he wasn't going to lie for him and I felt like a **** for even asking him to do that. He palmed some chips in a greedy albeit drunken man. We've already forgotten about it but unfortunately it's hit the internet trolls who want blood.

You have cleared a lot of things up which ends most of the speculation and he himself has admitted he did wrong although he hasn't explained why he did what he did.

Maybe it is just in his nature or maybe there are some other reasons.

It would be a factor if he was one of the people that the owner of the chips gave chips to bet with and the instructions were vague or non existent, then some degree of confusion or misunderstanding is possible.

If he wasn't involved in any of the placing of the bets then I agree it's a straightforward theft.

If you have thoughts of stealing when you are sober but don't, stealing is in your character. Alcohol just gives you the kahunas to act on those thoughts.

People who would never think of stealing when sober don't suddenly start doing so when drunk.

As I said, alcohol doesn't change your character, it just brings different traits to the surface.

This goes to the core of your character and I don’t care how much you have drunk. Kassouf is a 30 something year old man not a teenager having his first night out in a casino.

This is not a lapse in judgment it is a damning indictment of his inner character and he should rightly be banned and shunned imo.

The poker community is way too easy on people who cheat and scam and we should not be.

JFC, one well-known member known for such behavior has taken over this thread with predictably horrible results. A tangent became a derail became a cesspool. Mods have issued a 1-day temp-ban to that member.

Please feel free to continue to discuss Kassouf and/or this specific incident. But any further posts furthering the tangent/derail may be deleted.
