Kassouf was drunk and we still dont really know why he did that (if it really happended that way). Maybe someone owed money to him or whatever. The dude here doesnt sound like a real friend anyway.... But whatever....... I have seen people doing horrible things and making super stupid decisions when they are drunk and the next day they didnt know why they really hit that guy, ****ed that woman or whatever else they were doing. They didnt think about it or thought they were in the Right.
I have seen people literally throwin money away because they just didnt care at that moment. **** happens.

Its actually the opposite . He rarely plays the super high tournaments and very often tries to get a place through satelites.

We haven't heard both sides of the story yet so don't know to what degree, if any, this was a theft.

When he was given chips by their owner was it for example said to him:

The key is "During the celebration a £100 chip accidentally fell into my pocket." Another poster is suggesting several chips were involved. It is vaguely possible ONE chip could accidentally fall into a pocket, but several is inexcusable.

I know you often hate my opinion and sometimes apparently get quite angry about my opinion, but IMO it was not good that the players decided to not try to resolve the situation between him, them and the casino but instead were content to see him get the full force of any penalties.

When a player gives another player chips to bet with it always opens up the possibility of a misunderstanding. Either give someone chips as an absolute gift or manage your own chips.

One time, I sat down at a table and pulled some cash from my pocket to buy-in. As it happened, a $100 bill dropped from my hand and fell into the open purse of the player seated next to me.

No way could I reach down and take it back. Fortunately, when I pointed it out to her, she had no problem with my then retrieving it.

Well the original tweet seemed to imply the chips were lifted off a stack rather then a simple miscommunication.

I get what you are saying that they may have been angry enough to not feel that he deserved any help after the situation escalated against him.

There is still an important context here that the player gave him chips to bet with (under what instructions we don't know yet). This was a voluntary action by the owner of the chips.

Also, their initial thoughts were to resolve things internally, perhaps indicating that they felt there were some mitigating circumstances.

Is a common situation , group of friends drinking , one fancies a gamble runs up a stack at roulette , has obviously said his friends can bet some of the chips on numbers for him, Kassouf decides instead through greed and selfishness and lack of actually caring about his friends or anyone but himself decides to just pocket some chips instead,
Maybe drunkenly justifies to himself ‘ oh he’ll probably lose them anyway ‘

Gets caught out attempts to loudly justify and defend himself as lawyers do, ends up drawing more attention to himself and here we are now.

Even if he’s drunk still screams volume about his character and traits

Reading back again on the Facebook post, I am not sure if it means or not that Will Kassouf was one of the people asked to bet with the owner's chips.

It says "he let us bet for him with some single chips" but it's not clear if "us" included Will Kassouf. If it didn't then it does look worse for him.

I think he needs to make a statement fairly soon, whether it's to admit, part admit or deny. Without him putting out a statement most people are going to assume he is guilty.
