Well I've been at the table with him and experienced his table talk and it didn't affect me one iota, he was giving free and entertaining information, although it's noticeable that some so called "pros" are bothered by it.

I've also chatted to him and he is a normal, nice guy.

There is such a thing as a table persona in poker and a media persona when someone becomes well known.

If he's done something wrong in this incident then yes that may cause a stain on his character, but we need to wait and see all of the facts.

thats all well and good but its classless and trashy and im sure a major deterrent for anyone who saw him on tv. no problem at all with some table banter, but what he did/does is well below the line of acceptable/fun behavior

I played some PLO with him and he was super nice and made the game way more fun....that or all PLO live games are amazing.

I'd have no idea as I've only played once and it was strictly to dust off a buy in and say i played with him.

With his table antics (such as blabbing nonstop just to tilt and distract people) to gain a small edge or publicity, I'm not surprised this douche also cheats at roulette to get an edge on the casino. Hope he got arrested and barred for life. Better yet, hope he gets barred from all Caesar's property so we don't have to see him at WSOP anymore.

Thinking this will likely turn out to be a personal dispute like he took a chip from an associates stack that he felt he was owed for some reason , the associate objected and it kicked off from there

I think what some people may be missing is if he detects that the blabbing is getting under someone's skin then he will increase it. If he detects that it isn't he will decrease it because it is wasting his own energy.

His antics stood out at WSOP because the mainly North American opponents he used it on took everything he said at face value and were unable to work out or recognise that it was an act, a persona, a strategy, so assigned his behaviour to him the person, not to him the player playing a game of strategy.

If you play live cash game poker in London at 4 am you would grade him about a 3 out of 10 on the scale of ******* at the table. There are some genuine bad, rough, dangerous and sometimes angle shooting characters for whom it is not an act at all, it is how they are as people 24/7.

Many North Americans just don't get some of the British sense of humour, or the deliberate messing about with the English language that we sometimes do.

Griffin Benger was an example of this with his ridiculous reaction,.

griffin = shaguar. so its excusable because its the norm in one city? hes a goof that doesnt even seem very good. bax/vayo/grif/etc all complained and they cover the entire spectrum of winning players. he had to berate a random into a fold then acts like the man after.

Im British and can confirm hes one of the most annoying people i have ever played with. Its not even funny its just irritating and extremely slow when hes on the table. It feels like his sole purpose is to make everyone at the table miserable so they tilt away their stack to him.

Also poker is the same game in any country. Etiquette is etiquette whether you are in London or LV and he has none.

They are all North Americans, that is the common factor. I think the way they reacted also indicated their sense of entitlement that the game should be played in the way they want it to be played and the way they are used to. Like it's on line basically.

Most hypocritical was Cliff Josephy in his post comp interview boasting about how back in the day it was so easy for him to legitimately exploit weak opponents on line. Yet in the same interview he vehemently complained about Will Kassouf trying to exploit him and others through legitimate table talk.

I get your perspective and I have seen some British players who also don't like the way he acts at the table but I think this is mainly a function of the majority of players not liking any sort of noise at the table as they find it harder to concentrate. Unfortunately speech play is a legitimate part of some of the mind games that go on in live poker.

His speech play is a form of bullying, so to negate it one has to find legitimate counter strategies and then he won't do it to you, he will pick on someone else.

I can't speak for everyone but i don't give two figs what he says its how slow he plays that annoys anyone i have ever spoken to about this.

Funny you say his speech play is a form of bullying and that its also a legitimate strategy. Even wsop rules state you can't constantly badger a opponent like he does. As a example when people ask me something when i have made a bet 99 times out a 100 i never reply. Every single person who has ever done that has spoke to me once then made their decision as they realise im not the chatty type while in a hand. Kassoufs tendency of not shutting up and badgering someone who has no interest in talking isn't a legitimate strategy its simply having no respect for the game.

To me, it doesn't matter if he's doing it because it's his personality to blab like that or if he's doing it with the sole purpose of tilting others as a poker strategy.

The former makes him a rude and annoying social outcast with no consideration for others. If the general public finds your blabbing to be obnoxious, you should tone it down.

The latter is even worse. Being intentionally obnoxious and inconsiderate to gain an edge is scummy and low.

I totally agree the amount of it he does is too much, so this is where the rules need looking at. I suggested on another thread in tournaments there should be speech bank chips, only 1 opportunity per level to use extended speech play and outside of that a limit of say 15 seconds of speech play per hand one is involved in, unless both players are freely engaging in speech play.

Outside of this there really are multiple strategies that can be used against Will to negate his speech play. One of them isn't to stay silent and motionless.

Can't someone just call clock every time it is his action? I've never played with him and I've never watched him play, but if he really is as awful as I glean from the few comments I've seen on 2+2, then that seems like the easiest solution. You actually can remain silent and motionless if you want to, with the one exception of saying the word "clock."

Kassouf is just doing what Negreanu is doing. Talk to the people to just have fun at the table and get some reaction. Its allways funny how much information people give Daniel ......The only difference is that some people dont like Kassoufs style and he is a little more aggressive sometimes and doesnt care about cameras or the public. He is playing like he is in a private home game or just an average cash game.

But he is def not allways playing like he did at the wsop. He reacted to certain things that happend there.

And i dont think he is actually very good at his speech play. Sometimes he just gives away too much information about his own hand and thoughts or talks himself into stupid decisions. Its horrible. He should watch his videos and learn to make it better.......
For Example phil hellmuth easily outplayed him in some cash game.


Regarding this situation.
It was probably some personal dispute, a stupid mistake or he was just drunk. You can see on pictures that he is just having fun and enjoying his life and stardom. He def isnt running around planing some bs. No need to scandalize everything just because some of you want (especially) him the next victim of your behaviour crusade.

But even if he really did something bad there and got caught there is still a little difference to Phil Ivey stealing millions and most people still love and respect him so everything should be ok. No matter what..the people who liked Kassouf before that will still like and the people who hated him will still hate him.......No big difference.
