But the underlying calories in, calories out is a simple scientific law. One simply needs to correctly identify and understand the mass/energy balance envelope at hand.
That I can agree with. What I was trying to say is calorie usage and the body's energy efficiency are non-linear. The body will adapt to whatever you give it and change its metabolism accordingly.
So in theory you are correct. In practice the calorie counting thing could only kind of work short-term and even then it won't be accurate because some calories won't get absorbed and also it "costs" more energy to digest certain foods, especially true with high fiber foods, for which the body needs to use extra calories to push the fiber through the digestive tract
, not to mention that anything that binds to the fiber will just go right through, both calories and nutrients.
