I was playing a HU SNG on 11/24 and mid-game my opponents SN changed from kendog_819 to -epic fa1lure-. Eventually this player posted in the thread confirming it and acted like he is a victim and it was perfectly legitimate for his name to be changed.

A FTP rep then posted in the thread informing us that they were aware of the SN change, that it is only allowed for a small number of valid reasons, and the only mistake was that they accidentally changed his SN mid-game. The response led us all to believe that this is only done to protect players in rare circumstances.

Many continued to ask questions and speculate but FTP would not elaborate reasons on changing screen names, since many people would then contact them asking for their name to also be changed for those reasons.

Another 2p2 poster then came forward with a screen shot he captured from a thread kendog_819 made days before his name was changed mid-game vs me. This thread lasted 15 minutes and then was deleted.


It goes without saying that this is extremely troubling, especially for HU players.

Can't wait for the FTP response on this one.

Unless they are still going to "protect the integrity" of the games.

I don't see what was so shady about this? It looked like, in rare circumstance, Full Tilt allowed him to change his name and they did it in game so it looked fishy.

so, he doesn't receive any e-mails from fulltilt(which are usually useless) and as a 'goodwill' gesture they let him change his name?

kendog_819 was a **** screen name though..only reason i can think why they let him change it.

There's really no response to be anticipated...they already blatently lied to cover up the fact they let this guy change his name for no reason in the last thread...and then got caught in that lie from the screen shot posted...

From the post in the picture (which Bobo Fett has confirmed existed and was deleted a few minutes later), it looks like FTP let him change his name "as a goodwill gesture". That's incredibly unfair. The dude plays tons of HU SnGs and has absolutely no right to get the huge edge of suddenly being anonymous in those games just cause support likes him or cause they feel bad cause he wasn't getting their e-mails or whatever.

OP Hit a $20k downswing as per his graph and started playing lower buyins ie. $20 the op played against him = less rake
FTP let him change name so he can be anonymous and not bumhunted anymore = higher buyins again and more rake.

They also lied about it when first questioned, before that screenshot was posted obv...

especially now in the age of PTR/sharskcope being able to change your name would be a big edge for any winning HU/HUSNG players and almost all winning players at 5/10+. but they don't let you change your s/n and multiaccounting is against the rules (and unethical in poker community etc). so the playing field for most regs who obey the rules is fairly even. but letting some change their names for no good reason would be an unfair advantage, and it seems shady or incompetent or just weird imo.

I will take a guess that this is one of the players that has changed his name, or has a new account for some other reason. Plausibly deniable.

Whoa hold on, how do you know that this is out of the blue? Just because Kendog thinks it's odd and hasn't heard of a name change being done before doesn't mean that he hadn't been complaining about being threatened for example.

You guys are assuming that this was out of the blue without knowing if there was a prior history.

Assuming that this is all true, and I see no reason that this did not happen as exactly outlined in the other thread, this is totally unacceptable. Not only is FTP as a company proven though this to be scummy, so has Kendog aka epicfailure.

If I was approached to change my sn on FTP I would have said no. FTP's representatives, and who ever made the decision to allow this to happen should explain themselves immediately. How can a player, who clearly knew what was going on and that changing sn's is way out of line, ever accept such a shady offer and then act like a victim.

your anger with kendog is a bit off..he was innocent enough to make a post on 2+2 disclosing everything when it happend lol which is the only reason this all came to light.

Would love for a ft rep to give us some details on the sn change, reasons, etc...
