i see he went from 600 to 18,000 in a month but it took a while before he turned 0 into 600. then he went from 18k down to about 8k now. anyway, does anyone know exactly how he did this? i read his rules on bankroll management but how many hands a day did he play? does he buy in for the maximum? or does he just shortstack his way to success? i cant seem to find any of these details any where. if someone knows something, please post.

i saw him play some short handed on a 10/20 nlh recently. he was buying in for the minimum and going all in with Q9 preflop. he was losing. maybe that explains how he went from 18k down to 8k. other than that, i have no idea what his strategy was to build up to 18k.

years ago, i played in a tournament with ferguson. he was a massive chip leader half way through the tourney. he was moved to my table. he then proceeded to spew off his chips like he lost his mind. lol, of course, i didnt happen to benefit from it but others at my table were. the guy next to me asked, "did you find those chips in a garbage can chris"?

With a balance of $0.00, he could accumulate a bankroll initially only by playing freerolls, which had 1,800 players and paid 18 spots. (Full Tilt’s freerolls, which now pay $100 in prizes, then paid just $40.)

Playing about 10 hours a week, divided among freerolls and some play-money games to promote the site, it took him a month to win $2. “I bought in for the minimum on the smallest game on Full Tilt. I got all-in with pocket tens against ace-queen. I lost the two dollars before the blinds came around. Some players remember hands that won or lost them hundreds of thousands of dollars or big tournaments. I remember that hand that cost me two dollars because it took me a month to make that two dollars. It was back to the freerolls.”

Because of the 16 month struggle to build a bankroll from nothing, Tuesday, August 14, 2007, would certainly qualify as a memorable day in Chris’s poker career. His bankroll on Full Tilt had grown to over $9,500 and he was playing to take down a milestone.


Note that he didn't start with 600, he started with zero. Now that's a tough way to make 10,000 dollars.
