You gotta love people that feel like they were screwed over or assaulted somehow and then wait YEARS to say anything until the accused is in the spotlight with the possibility of becoming powerful or rich & then they have that overwhelming need to not let that evil bastard get away with it any more.... Disgusting. Both parties.

Didnt make sense to accuse prior. No one would know who it was.

I don't understand your point at all. Please explain. Are you insinuating that he didn't try to get his money back before Qui got famous? It sounds like he did. Are you telling me that if someone stole $2k from you that you wouldn't expose them? Why not?

Ummm...yeah. That sounds perfectly logical. Once somebody is a public figure, or in your example about to reach a position of power, it makes more sense to share that information with a wider audience than it does when nobody knows them.

The same would be true for positive information. I've played poker with some terrific people, but I'm not going to post about them. Whereas if one of them wins the WSoP their positive qualities would be more worth mentioning.

And as was pointed out: you have no idea if they waited years to say anything. You just wouldn't have heard about it.

does the op evenconsider the fact that maybe qui was throwing some vietnamese vodoo his way, without which he wouldnt have won, just maybe the op got off cheap. imean dissing viet magic is very bad, very very bad.

Hypothetically - if I were to given a random person $2K to enter a satellite, on condition that I'd get 50% of their action if they made it into the ME. I'd get their phone number too.

Hypothetically if I was going to scam someone for 2k I wouldn't give them my real number.

I'd make damn sure he entered the satellite as well.

I mean, this story started out dumb and just gets dumber.

Oh how I love poker players. A stranger walks up to you and asks for 500$ and you just hand him 2,5k$, just like that. You don't even draft a contract, why bother?

Can't believe it. I could make a great living just walking around a poker room asking people for 1k.

Does that mean that we should celebrate Qui scamming him?

Why is it a surprise that a Vietnamese guy in a casino who dresses like that is a degen?

Yep props to him, he has no obligation to a random idiot who just handed him money. If even true.

Disagree. Years back same thing. Local tourney for me took 3rd. Dude was railing final table and when we chopped he came to us at the cage harassing us for cash. If that happened again today I also would have told him to F off. Because saying no 10 times wasn't good enough

Eh?

He said he wanted to warn others about him. If he was so concerned about the welfare of others he would've said something straight away, so people would be aware of a Qui Nguyen.
Warning people abut someone begging for money after they've won 8m is less likely to make a difference than if you'd said something before they've won 8m.

When did this become a thing? Who sets these rules?

No one deserves to get scammed no matter how nice, trusting, generous or careless they are.

With an attitude like that, I hope nobody ever stakes you or trusts you with anything. Frankly, you sound like a thief. "Hey, if they didn't want their house broken into, they should have locked their doors."
