I don't know whether the story is true, but i know it's reasonablely possible. If the story is a lie, it means Andy made it up because why????

If Andy has an axe to grind vs. Qui and wanted to embarrass him, why didn't Andy make up a story that was less embarrassing to himself? He could have skipped the part about the gift, just say he staked Qui and he skipped out and didn't even play.

The story is absurd enough to be true. I have a policy to never loan money but still have gotten touched by two terrible degens in the dumbest possible ways. People do dumb things at poker rooms, even when they know better and especially when they are winning big.

I think what doesn't add up is that "f..k You I'm not playing and I'm keeping your F..king money" is some detailed verbose message that would apparently be impossible to convey without years of elocution lessons. Or that somebody couldn't pick up the most basic profanity during time spent in casinos.

Does Qui not speak any other languages aside from English?

That's exactly what every person who reads it thinks of your posts. I was literally about to ask where you play so I can go clean up all your fishy money off the table. Surely, your lack of logic, feeble attempts at lies and manipulation of facts, and poor reading comprehension must translate to horrible play at the tables.

Story isn't unbelievable. I've done the same thing Andy has on more than one occasion.

You'll always find a cage rat or two hanging around when you're cashing out after a successful run.

To some people it's nothing to toss a small percentage to a fellow player down on their luck or who railed you for hours.

It's the same old

1) make serious allegation
2) provide no proof
3) watch targeted person's reputation be tarnished

So, what am I saying here? The above recipe is essentially a weapon. Its effectiveness will depend on the accuser's authority, but it's available to all people. The weapon is only armed, however, if we give credence to such accusations. When people maliciously use literal weapons, society punishes them. Making serious allegations, without providing any proof, will usually have no backlash. We shouldn't be philosophically ok with that it's possible for a person (or a group) to greatly harm someone, while taking little to no risk of facing negative consequences. Luckily, we can fight this issue with a war of ideas. We disarm the weapon if we stop believing in such baseless accusations. Andy Philachack should provide proof or retract and apologize. I don't particularly care about Qui Nguyen. I'm just saying this because I think it's a big problem in society.

obv qui planned a long con and knew he would win the ME at some point, so lying about a 1st lvl bust would make the whole story plausible, which left him with the only option: telling the truth (b/c he knew andy would tell chainsaw and this would result in a thread on nvg, where poker community's finest and smartest people come together)

He referenced it on Twitter, with his first Tweet there since August: "I shared my story about Qui bc I wanted people to know what kind of person he is. It's not about the $, it's about the principle."

So perhaps he took the FB post down, but he did reference it somewhere.

I would bet this is a true story. Also it's kinda obvious but he wasn't serious about getting half the winnings now, but absolutely owed an apology and his money back at minimum, even though it's clearly half-assed since he "has to" due to new fame and fortune (ie prob never would have if he didn't win)

Do I still have time to bet the over/ under that in 5 years Qui will be busto, if so book me for the under.

OP starts some terrible threads at times, but before accusing someone of making a story up, you should probably have a little more to go on than "I looked on his Facebook page and didn't see it...OP made it up!!1!11!1!".

Why don't you go back and look at the original OP where Complainsaw says he saw it on Andy's FB - FB stands for Facebook if you didn't know.
