Can a GTO guy explain this call from Sunni or is it just as bad as it 1st looks?

Like I get the Js is a great blocker vs SyrW value range but also seems like Sunni lacks bluffs here unless he's 3b calling all KQo combos but I realize I could be way off

It might be helpful to focus less or putting him on a specific range, and thinking more broadly that Sunni has to defend a certain % of the time and will have to reach into more speculative bluffcatchers after checking both turn and river. For instance, if he had an ace, then he'd be double barreling turn or block betting river often, so he needs to call with middle pair type hands to not overfold.

The key is to think less about what IP is representing and more about how often we need to defend relative to the bet size, while using the blockers to nudge things. (At least from a GTO perspective). When you realize how capped we are then you can assess that we probably need to defend uncomfortable hands.

As you can see, ~17% of our range is TP+ as OOP, so if we only wait to call with TP then we fold too often. Solver finds bluffs with 45s and 9s9x and KJ/QJ/KQ.

(Sorry for strat post!)

For many spots this is a great approach however as you can see in your picture the math for defending frequencies fall apart in this spot. This happens in spots where ranges get very narrow and defined like in this instance: IP bottom of the range has lots of showdown value and doesn’t need to bluff. So indeed IP struggles to find bluffs here.

In this kind of spot thinking of defending frequencies in the traditional sense is torching money and putting opponent on a specific range is actually more helpful. Without more info it’s hard to cast a verdict but the call can def be bad and probably is in most games.

people bluff jam too much river in 4bet pots in general, wouldn’t call that torching money at all

Ran the hand, ofc depends on preflop ranges but i used std ones for 150bb. In my sim JJ bets the turn, but check and bet 25% ev's are the same basically. River vs ai JsJh calls 100% of the time, but e.g. JhJd would be folding as call is -22bb. So prob std from both.

There's an unknown swede with the most generic name ever at the FT of the 10k big wrap in rozvadov right now.
Anyone know if berri has been online in the last two days? Lol
09-14-2023 , 06:50 PM
lol at the generic untracked nordic euro names. I am curious what the name is. Magnus Stackoffsson?

Who do you think has a generic name? Both swedes are known and not Berri.
09-14-2023 , 07:54 PM
Saw the stream now and he went by a different, indeed generic name, there. Not berri though, but another plo hu crusher.

It seems to be an induction size where I think he thinks I would fall for this with one pair type holdings.
