While I think you certainly shouldn't tap the bank or berate a fish, the opposite of that (excessively trying to be buddy buddy with them) is lame as well. Many fish are very successful/smart people, they're well aware that the games run around them and pros are there to take their money. You can be respectful and keep their experience fun without treating them like they're complete idiots.
