Mason,
Below stated a quote from the publisher notes you have written.
Quote:
To answer this question [Is the announced Venetian fixed guarantee tournament bad?], our posters certainly think it is, and a number of well known poker personalities, such as Doug Polk, have spoken out against it. But my view is a little different.
From my perspective, this is just another example of a poker room charging a rake that will ensure the games will be difficult to sustain over a long period of time. And this is true in today’s cash games as well as today’s tournaments. So, is this tournament’s rake structure bad for poker? My answer is yes. But are virtually all of today’s tournaments and cash games suffering from a rake structure that is bad for poker. My answer is also yes.
This leaves us with the following, what is there to debate? Too much money, assuming this tournament is successful in attracting a lot of players, will be removed from the poker economy, and that’s exactly what’s happening anyway.
So it is bad, but because everybody is doing it we should not care? we should not debate? we just let it happen? This is strange to me, I don't understand you taking this position. Can you explain?
