No, fish wont be able to sit with other fish. If regs are sitting in a game with no fish, the table will break instantly or as fast as is allowed (minimum orbit or something probably will be implemented). After that they wait a bit and rinse and repeat.

This doesn't directly answer your question, but FYI: It's also mentioned in the blog post that they are trialing a new system with HUSNGs with anonymous names so you can't game select, with the plan to introduce this to cash games in the future.

Quote:
we are currently testing a Heads-up Sit & Go lobby on our Spanish client that removes the possibility of seeing the name of opponents before starting the game, which provides a pool of players that will be randomly matched against each other.

If the test is conclusive, it will be a major milestone against seating scripts and the groups of players that prevent these games being played on an even footing. We aim to deploy this feature in other licenses if the test is successful, and our intention is to propose something similar in cash games in the coming months.

Unibet has had this 'Seat Me' functionality since launch. Does it suffer from games constantly breaking? How do they manage it?

What was it like when FTP introduced this system?

At unibet the tables doesn't break instantly as its a bit harder to spot regs as you can change screennames 9000 times a day, but the games do break pretty fast when it's clear no one is fish. If the sn changing gets implemented to stars aswell, it will be similiar. If screennames aren't allowed to change, games with no fish will break immediately.

Re: Seat me: RIP game selection on Stars

"railbirds will still be able to observe ring game action through rolling highlights of key hands, with Team PokerStars Pros' play weighted to appear at the top of feeds to enable fans to locate and watch them more easily. "

Two questions

1) So how would Stars determine a "highlightable" hand? something like pot 100bbs+? queen high calls? a spectacular triple barrel bluff with 72o?

2) So am I now going to get my feed plugged by Ronaldo playing 25nl or Jamie Staples shot taking 200nl instead of seeing OtB, Trueteller and W00ki3z battling?

It will probably work like it already does when railing a Zoom pool for every stake.

Re: Seat me: RIP game selection on Stars

This is already in place on a small U.S.-facing site. It certainly does not discourage bum hunting, nor does it increase the amount regs play each other. It just leads to a bunch of tables of regs all sitting out, waiting for fish to spawn to an open seat at the table. A lot of the time there will be 5-10 tables open and at most 2 tables running. Complicating matters, sometimes regs like to play HU, so other regs keep spawning over and over again to the table where they're trying to play, making it go three handed for an orbit, screwing up the position of the BB, etc. The whole thing is a bit of a mess.

Some fish also get sick of spawning to tables full of regs and you can see their frustration as they leave and spawn again and leave and spawn again and then sometimes they just quit because it's so hard/impossible to get onto a table where cards are actually being dealt.

from what I understand, hu zoom (and other zoom games) will remain uneffected, and playing hu on normal tables will be impossible

Re: Seat me: RIP game selection on Stars

'Cause it worked so well on FTP...

- Slightly more annoying to bumhunt, but there will still be loads of bumhunting going on.
- Fish won't get softer tables. If anything, they might play shorter handed for a few more hands early on than earlier, which isn't great for lossrates.
- Different kind of scripting, but there will still be scripting.

On the positive:
- Datamining very limited (but still around).

As a rec micro stakes fun player I like those changes. Obviously my ability to judge its real impact is negligible, but I like the general direction. For all I care it could be 100% anonymous.

Re: Seat me: RIP game selection on Stars

when FT implemented these changes to their regular tables, MSNL action was probably cut in half.

this will not make regulars play each other. it will just extend the time money is being circled and raked by moving action to smaller games with a higher rake%. Which is what amaya has been doing ever since they bought stars.

gg.

glad, i withdrew all money and stopped playing on stars/ft

The games are "anonymous" in the sense that you have 5 different player IDs and can make up to that many new IDs a day.

The solutions are out there. PStars just needs the will.

Right. Not trying to get rid of scripts.
Obviously I have a motivation for stars not to ban scripts (why would I want to spend money building another script?) and obviously stars claims this is a step against scripts. No one would agree otherwise.

My point is that scripts will still provide a great advantage over manual seat selection, imo a greater one. dont be fool enough to believe that this will stop scripts. me and many others will come up with solutions.

Many new problems will arise for bumhunters/regs (oh btw: every high stakes reg is a bumhunter) though. So the biggest change is simply that regs will see a decrease in their profits, that's all.

I'm not trying to get people behind me to get amaya to back down or anything. why would i do that? I just happen to be very well informed in this subject due to being a high stakes reg and selling one of the most popular scripts so I would like other people to hear my view of the facts.

many people say this is a money grab but this is more of a long term strategy: to get rid of people making a living out of poker. amaya doesnt give a damn about scripts because they dont change a single thing. any place (both live and online) where a fish sits at a high stakes table it will insta-fill. "fish feeling hunted" isnt a thing. getting rid of regs is. that's what amaya has within its plans.

oh btw: stars allows my script and has allowed it for years. if they wanted to stop scripters they could have just asked me not to distribute it. do you now see what i tried to say? amayas agenda is not the one the claim. it makes me a bit sick that people on 2+2 still hasn't realized that amaya is actively trying to get rid of them even though this has been going on for years already.

Looks like Stars now is trying to make regulars either play in every game or not play at all. They've made it very obvious they don't really care either way as long as regulars aren't able to take too much money out of the system.

Considering how cash-game-lobby looks with long waitlists it's not a change i totally disagree with. Only concerned how the games will change as some players might need to move a stake or 2 down.

I would bet that 90%+ of those who argue it's a good change are recs/bad micro players with no real understanding of how certain changes might impact the games.
I guess they are frustrated with their lack of success in poker and they get their hopes up by believing pokerstars bs reasonings and false image of creating a healthier exosystem.
